In this day and age you wonder why

So we are moving house tomorrow. This week organize transfer of phone and internet. All done at a flick of a virtual switch some where. But it will take near to a month. :censored: House we are going to is a established house with a land line that has been there for over twenty five years, so not really a problem as in making a new connection. Up side, if there is one, we get a better deal with our combined land line phone and internet. But you would think that it could be done quicker.

It's the project management and complex planning and testing involved in flicking the switch that take the time you know..... just ask any Telco ::angel: :rolleyes:

Wait for the day when expected connection is scheduled and nothing. Call them up and be told " we tried to call to arrange the connection , but no one answered " then learn the number they were calling was the one to be connected not your mobile or alternative contact. Happened to me a few times.

It's not the switch that takes long to flick, it's the generation of all the paperwork, work orders and such, then it being put in the queue to get done by workers with low moral who are working to rule to prove a point. The backlog builds up and no one cares. Next thing you know it's taking a month to get someone to log onto their computer to flick a virtual switch.

You're not wrong there Gav. Another little quirky thing that gets my goat up is the banks. Do a Bpay or something similar like a transfer, it comes out of your account straight away - then it sometimes takes up to 2 days to end up in the payees account. Where is the money in the meantime - silly question I know - it gets invested in overnight money markets. In this day and age of instant transfers it should be in the other persons account as quick as it leaves yours!

I wonder if it's got to with the brand of bank.....or the transfer method.

Recently when I sold Grumble , the new owner transferred the money in front of me on his mobile and showed the amount being transferred immediately to my account.....all within seconds , standing in my driveway.

BTW , I would have no idea how to do that myself.....I still talk to people.

Well there you go. For once a pleasant surprise. As you can tell by this post the internet and our phone has been sorted. Had green lights on the modem/ router Friday but could not connect. Took a while, but at around midnight last night I was able to contact I Primus and sort the user name out. Tried ringing earlier and got music that you would die for, just to get away from it.
