Hi All,
I'm back after a hiatus.. I guess I've had to much fun with no consequence and the defender gods have kicked me in the balls.
Ive got my RHS front wheel scrubbing on the inside edge against the radius arm. FYI I'm running 33" MTZ on sunny rims (I'm unsure of offset) and a 2" Old man lift.
I recently had a bit of daylight under the front end on the sand near my house (not intentionally) and it seemed to throw everything out of whack pretty good. Ive been working my way through it all and It wasn't that airborne really - she just came down a little harder than I would have liked but seriously not that bad at all... anyways as a parting gift Im binding up before full lock - only on full lock to the right - so its the rear edge of the front RHS tyre against the radius arm.
I just switched the front and rear diffs to oil fed bearing setup and everything was checked twice for problems, at the same time I got a new HD maxiidrive drag link setup and track rod as well their adjustable A frame balljoint. I put a new coil over steering damper on, did all new poly bushes, all new tie rods and ball joints, checked the pitman arms and steering box, and got a wheel alignment, it doesn't scrub as bad but is still doing it. I checked the axles they're straight, and even thought maybe i had shunted the whole front end to one side but I came down level. Everything else has been checked - all new bearings seals etc in the swivels, no warping - nothing that would indicate a problem...
Im kinda at a loss as I never had this issue before. I was reading up on offsets and guys running 35" tyres etc, there's no way I could run 35"s id be scrubbibg hard as. Im wondering could I have bent the rim mating face or something? There's no vibration at all.. the whole car drives smooth as, especially after all the work Ive done, pretty much everything has been replaced suspension wise other than springs and shocks which are still going strong with no sagging... It sits level, I did notice looking head on at the car that one of the front wheels did sit maybe 5mm more proud at the guard than the other side but it was the RHS that was scrubbing that was proud which doesn't make sense?
Ive checked and rechecked everything? measured clearances, laser sighted everything etc etc I just can't see it.
Can anyone point me to something I might be missing?
