Yep. That time of the year again.
What are people thinking of getting for their family and friends?
I'm getting Guide Dog calendars as stocking stuffers for family.

I've bought some small 300ml jars, and a heap of bulk spices.
I'm blending some BBQ spice rubs for the family- A Jamacian Jerk spice blend, Southwest, Carolina, and Memphis rubs. Great for rubbing on a steak, sprinkle over chicken or ribs... A set of 4 spice mixes per gift.
Tasking the other half with the beautification of said jars, labels, ingredients labels etc.
As a family we generally don't go overboard with gifts, usually opting for making something rather than giving stuff which ends up in a drawer or closet until next year. They're all foodies, so stuff like this never goes astray. I'm a bit 'bah humbug' when it comes to christmas as a religious event, but it's always a good time to catch up with the family, drink lots and eat plenty.

I noticed Rotary was selling a nice calendar of the Glasshouse Mountains as a fund-raiser, so I bought a dozen to add to presents. Good to help a charitable cause, plus the photos by local photographers are excellent.

It's still for sale. I'll decorate it in tinsel for you.
It's running much better with the new spark plugs and a little help from Kyle who put the leads on the right plugs for me.
Thanks Kyle.
Someone wants to buy themselves a 101 for christmas. They just spent half an hour trying to convince me to sell them one of mine. They made some good points in their argument.
I really need to work out what to buy family for christmas. Unfortunately, anything to do with Landrover will not go down well.

I'm getting the Mrs a metal detector. She's always wanted one apparently. She thinks she's going to find treasure - but when she gets bored with it , I thought it may come in handy when I lose a bolt or something.

I'm in the same boat Mick - have no idea what to get anyone this year. Christmas Day will be a quiet affair for us - just us, the kids and their partners - no Mum, brother or in laws this year.
Now, the in laws I can sort - nothing - that's easy. I need to get Mum something before catching up with her in 2 weeks. The kids, well, no idea either....

Yeah so far it's just random stuff, for tis the season of contrived expectation and family peer pressure driven by guilt marketing. ....Let's start Land Rover owners religion day and no one is allowed to mention the breakdowns and we'll only talk about failed marriages with other brands 🙃 And no green oval trinkets!

I brought shiny new indicator lights that are actually orange for my Chrissie pressie, hopefully will also get some time over the break to fit the front runner water tank that is sitting in my garage.
I don't mind people buying me Land Rover treasures anytime of the year :p

I'll buy a Xmas tree from the CFA, the boys will love it and all the spiders and bugs that will fall out of it in the first day.

I bought my sis some of these charts (sneakers and camera one)

For the wife and myself we bought some art we like, and already a huge ROI given the steal we got it for at auction. So a Bromley and a Jasper Knight piece.

I bought my wife the 2016 Louise Lamb Land Rover calendar. If she doesn't like it I will use it. Also as a back up I bought two coffee mugs from Officeworks, one with a picture wrap of both of us outside Souther Land Rover with the new Heritage, & the other a photo of the HUE166 badge on the side - she can choose!:D

Gift vouchers are always good as they allow people to buy what they really want. For example, our daughter has asked for a Kathmandu voucher as she is going to Bhutan next year and wants to get equipped.

I am happy as when the guardian of the funds allows me a splurge on music at my favorite music shop. Not interested in much else these days. SHMBO doesnt want much each year either. Something must be there to present but we are happy as with a quiet day without having to drive anywhere and a nice selection of drinks , nibblies and a bbq.

It's a pity Mountain Designs is no longer Australian made, I would have suggested them Mick. ...But I think the best outdoors shop is Bogong in Melb.

For goodness sake, I am tempted to say she can't be that fussy if she puts up with you, but as it is Christmas I won't
If it is so hard, just go and have a look at what perfume she uses and get a bottle of that. Do you know where she gets her hair done? Pop in there and buy a gift voucher. Play it safe and get her something you know she likes.
Interests? does she have any interests? Perhaps a book - there are lots of autobiographies out at the moment by singers, actors etc does she have a favourite? Music grab a CD or two or cheat and get a JB HiFi voucher. How about tickets to play or concert?

Her father was a market gardener. Mum has a green thumb. Just about everything in her garden is either self sown (like the two over productive avocado trees) or grown from seeds or grown from seeds from other gardens.
One of the vehicles was a water tanker. Much easier to turn on the tap.
