We purchased a 2012 SD4 Pure about 18 months ago and have just been told that the rear diff is 'stuffed' and needs replacing. Just 108,00 kms with wife driving locally - seems bizarre!
As we bought it privately we are wondering if there is a pipeline to LR Australia to enquire about warranty etc
Any help appreciated
thanks

You can ring LR Customer Care but chances are they'll refer you to a dealer anyway.
Does the car have a service history with LR? This will help greatly with any post warranty goodwill from LR.
The Freelander 2 had some rear diff issues that LR sort of rectified with a software revision - I wonder if the Evoque suffered the same issue?
If it did, and your car hasn't seen a dealer for a while, then it may have missed out on any software updates.

Thanks Scouse - last service at Graeme Cooper July 14 at 93000Km (A Service) - since then oil & filters every 5000km by me ready for next major service at 120,000km

Even out of warranty, Australian consumer law states that something should last a 'reasonable amount of time'. That is to say that if a $100 TV blows up just out of its 12 month warranty, then that's probably ok, but IMO you have a case to say a diff should last more that 108,000KM regardless of service history, but if it has one, then all the better.
Start out nice, you catch more flys with Honey, but I think you have some avenues if needed.

yes - thanks for that - a lifetime in providing travel services has taught me to always keep an eye on the big positive marketing picture - hopefully preliminary discussions with LR will open some positive possibilities.

I would be checking when the diff oil was recommended for change by LR. I'd be surprised if it was before 100,000km.

Interesting... I road tested an Evoque with a terrible diff/driveline whine a short time back when I was picking up some stuff at my diff specialist (I was coincidentally there at the same time).
I referred the owners to talk to Land Rover (the car was just out of warranty) and that if they approach it the correct way then they might get something out of goodwill. I urge you to do the same. The more people that have the issue the more chance of a recall...
BUT before you do anything, check the rear tyres, they chop out really badly and make a diff whine like noise (thanks to the Mac Struts), it could be that simple.

Thanks for that - have had 2 preliminary checks this week - both LR mechanics and both have concluded that the differential is on the way to cactus - the whining is very noticeable both building up with speed and decreasing tone when slowing. Both LR mecjanics have expressed concern that this problem should arise at 108K kms
Have commenced the preliminary emails with LR as below - just waiting for a specialist to respond.
Thank you for your email to Land Rover Australia.
Please be assured that we have received your email and a Land Rover
Specialist will investigate and reply to you with priority either by
email or by contacting you via telephone, if you have supplied a
telephone number.
Alternatively, if you wish to speak to a Land Rover Specialist in the
interim, then please don't hesitate to contact us on 1800 625 642,
Monday to Friday, 08:00 until 18:00 (AEST).

I don't think that phone number will get you onto a Land Rover Specialist as it resembles the Customer Care number.

Hi All,
My Evoque Dynamic is out of warranty (5 months now) and from the rare of the car there is noise - LR with out any investigation advised its an issue with Diff and has to be replaced and will cost $3000.
Has any one has experienced the same issue before. (The Diff are for the life time of the car). This is a family car and is only used on the weekend.
!Note : last year April LR replaced the entire gear box as there was issue with it.
thank you
