Checking out a nice new 110 in the carpark and then saw the plates.
I thought this was great plate.
Got any favorites you've seen?

My favourite was on a black Jeep Grand Cherokee at Mona Vale about 15 years ago.
"BAABAA"
Or my own on a Porsche 924 Turbo I owned "IX11IV." Only for good students though.

Back in the '90's I had a Citroen AX GT 5 door with the number plate "X FILE".

Yes, I was a huge fan of the show, and anything "paranormal".

Not Technically a personalized plate as all the old alph-numeric plate beginning with Rxx-xxx or Sxx-xxx that are not in current use are up for grabs for a small once off fee in SA - I have SRZ-002 on my Series IIA.

Lady in town has EIEIO which is pretty cool. Worst I've seen is my old upholstery dude in Albury who had DIX-OUT. Classy eh? I'd love a personalised plate but not for $495 thanks Mr Vic Roads.

The County I decided not to buy, but have been babysitting for a few months, has LRO 110.
My own plates have come from my eldest sons car. He had a black Chrysler 300,SRT just like Walter White in the series Breaking Bad.
Plates were BRKNBAD which just tickled my fancy and I took them over after the Chrysler was written off.
Son happily suggested they would mean "broken bad" on the Landy.:p

After seeing the juvenile stupidity of many personal plates I term them "kiddy pleasers".
After all what else can you call plates like "SHORTASS" on a shortie Pajero, or "PIZZAEATER" on some other heap of crap?
Younger bro has his initials and birth year on his RRS Autobio but it was an original plate issued by the licencing authority (not WA) not some garbage like the above.
The very best I've seen was in the UK on a Bentley .....UPU 2 and was for sale not long ago for around 63K quid..... again it's a plate issued through the licensing.

Alan,

I think calling people juvenile and stupid is a bit out there, but thank you for your valuable opinion on this subject (again :p )on how other people spend their money on their vehicles. I can only assume that your vehicle(s) are not enhanced in anyway that is not 100% functional.

Just as a side note, both of my plates shown above are standard plates issued by the Qld transport.

My friend is a retired spray painter, he used to own his own body shop. Anyway he bought a van that had some accident damage cheaply all down one side so he in his own time fixed it up actually he did an amazing job you just cant see the fixed bit at all.
He went in to get the plates for it just the normal ones issued by Queensland transport and the handed him plated that read VAN and three numbers. He said no way are these really my plates, VAN for a van!??
It is super lucky and it looks great on his little van.

Currently in Alice (or at least visiting regularly) on a new black Jeep.

Personalized plates are a cheap bit of fun for your car in the NT. We are fortunate not to be charged like some of the other states.

Sons new plates on his Cruiser SHOWOFF.

WA is similar.
1 off price that varys depending on the type of plate. The tin ones are the cheapest, polycarbonate the dearest. You then own the rights to that plate and you car sell it for whatever you get if you wish.

Our kids have personal (standard Qld issued:D) plates as well all in the years they were born, 1977, 1978, 1983 & 1988 respectively.

I have a bit of a collection of them which started as birthday/occasion gifts quite a few years ago :D.

After restoring an FJ55, years ago, it was issued with PIG ???, most appropriate, pig by name, pig by nature.
At about the same time, my mate's aunt, at the time Queensland's most senior female police officer, bought a new car. It was delivered with PIG ???, she had it changed, pre-ppq days.:D

How can that be so, when those Mexicans think we're five years behind them? ;)

Homestar
9th December 2015, 04:57 AM
Yes, yes, that is one of the good things about the Qld scheme, but Victoria's Club Permit scheme is very good overall - you can drive the vehicle up to 90 days per year for whatever you like - not just club events, for about $140 I think it is.

The other $600 a year I can spend on...... More club regos.... :D

Oh, and I'm not sure what it's like in Qld, but I know in some states you have to pay extra each year for personalised plates which you don't have to in Vic. :)

The ho har's

In Qld personalised plates are a 1 off purchase:D You buy them and they are yours for life and you can put them on any vehicle you like including Historic registered vehicles.
