Hi gang. The title says it all. I did see another thread here a few months ago with the same symptoms, but can't locate it.

I am getting a little belt squeal on shut down of the motor and also once the clutch is depressed. The belt is only 20 000ks old and I've replaced tensioner, idle and aircon pulleys.

If someone could link me to the previous thread or help me out here, that would be much appreciated as I want to get out of town in 2 weeks.

Thanks in advance. :)

Short story, squeak on shut down indicates the harmonic balancer.

I also have a squeak on shut down :(

My TD5 does the same.

I've heard that the Crankshaft Pulley is commonly the culprit, I could be getting more mixed up. When I get some free time I'm going to get to the bottom of my squeak.

New tensioner and then later on, a new belt both only fixed it temporarily.

My mechanic didn't seemed too fussed about it as a particularly bad problem.

The crankshaft pulley is the harmonic balancer aka TVD

He had the squeak for 9 months, so I have time to save up to buy a new one
