Can anybody identify the light blue sedan, with the split rear window, on tonight's episode?
The roofline looked a little Rileyish but the bonnet looked more like a Ford. It had three bullet shaped vents on each side of the bonnet, 'twas also too low and sleek for a Ford.

Thanks Jerry, I think you're onto it.
The one I asked about looked quite similar to this.

They must have been coachbuilt as no two seem to be the same. It's amazing that they're all similar though, from the same builder maybe?

If it's this one it's a 1940 Triumph Dolomite, Mr Foyle drives the Riley :)

Yes mate, the Triumph, cheers.
Now here's a trip down memory lane for you. Gotta love the Three Graces, Classic and Corsair; notably absent was any Capri, including the Classic derivative.

Admittedly not Foyle's War - but I was watching "For The Love of Cars" last night. They were doing up a Rover SD1 Police Car, which was eventually sold at auction and went to a museum in Scotland.

While they were explaining the history of the car, and discussing police cars specifically ordered / built for "high speed" pursuit, they showed a Daimler Dart police car. Apparently a small number of these was ordered, as the police had nothing else in their fleet at the time that could catch the huge number of motor cyclists that were about .................

Impressive bit of gear. Don't know if there are any in Australia or not - I've certainly never seen one.

If it's this one it's a 1940 Triumph Dolomite, Mr Foyle drives the Riley :)I thought the Triumph marque was called Standard until the post-War era when they were tying to sell them in the US where the term Standard was usually what the poverty pack variant were called in US marques?

Cheers Brian, Foyles War was just an excuse to discuss old Pommie cars. ;)
Dianne, Standard used to be a model of Triumph. Standard as in Pennant, Ensign etc..

When Sam questions the fact, Foyle says something along the lines "I never said I couldn't drive"

Thanks for that Mike. Certainly haven't seen any of these over here in the three British car days I've been to at Gin Gin.

Is the red one in the second photo a Police version (or possibly Fire ???). The bell on the front bumper caught my eye .............. ;)

It seems that it was a police version that someone imported from England.
