Snotted Skippy coming out of nyngan last night, just what I wanted! Ended up losing the front plate so bodgied a laminated A4 with the numbers on it, I'll see what the average speed cameras have to say about that. Ended up being a 19 hour day, fun! Not sure the exact score but I think the cruiser won!
Had a full trailer and he hopped out about 3 metres in front of me so no chance stopping! I did drag him off the road and check for joeys.

Was your A4 effort the same alpha numeric order as the back?;)

No joeys.
Any trouble finding his pouch?

Hey, leave my work car alone! :p used my local connections to source a replacement cheaper than genuine Toyota, so boss is pleased about that.
And I didn't have any trouble finding anything, it was all fairly neatly scattered over the road! Hard hit

So it would seem. But I didn't know he was a he until I checked :)
My D2 arb bar handled the one I hit of a similar size at a similar speed much better.

Ouch I'm glad the damage wasn't worse. Based on long experience I would agree that one of the "brand" aftermarket bull bars would have handled it a lot better.
Takes me back to Cobar late 80's and snotting a roo on the way to Dubbo in a Mazda 323. Thankfully nudge bar took most of the pain, but I then discovered how a town the size of Cobar kept 2 panel beaters profitably employed. Roos and WNSW go together
Cheers

...... Not to mention goats, wombats and emus!!
I always reckon way safer not to try and swerve....... The defender handles them all pretty well (wombats are hard on steering rods but)....

Wiped out one just recently at 100 on the Melba Highway. Not a scratch on the ARB bar, poor skippy didn't fair as well though.

Yeah my ARB is fine.
And they don't but I didn't trust them with my DIY number plate :)

Nope, most of them are all vehicles these days.
Can attest to ARB bars and skippy strikes, far too many to recall and the bar is fine, including one impact front and centre at least a 90km/h impact speed.
I really thought I'd broken something with that one, the hit was hard, but only the number plate and Billie steering damper came off worse for wear.

You sure about that Rick? I've put most of them to the test and come away unscathed, they're not officially listed for light vehicles yet anyway.
And yes, my ARB bar has a very slight ripple along the lower edge of the blade, but it took me 3 years to spot it so it can't be that bad. That was a mid sized roo at 90kmh on the left wing.
I stopped at a mates place in narromine, he's a heavy vehicle mech who's worked for Hartwigs and is now fleet manager for Narromine shire council, and he says the factory Toyota bars are pretty weak.

In the Hunter and New England there are quite a few that aren't just heavy vehicle ones.
Pretty sure I've been through one or two down this way too.
Had to do a job in Tumut a few weeks back and I can't remember, it feels like several life times ago already. :o

So who has actually been done for speeding through an average speed camera in a light vehicle in NSW? If so, what did the fine state?
No stories of a mate of a mate who knows a cop etc...
Anyone?
Bueller?
Bueller?
Bueller?
I've never heard of it. Maybe I only associate with safe drivers? :p

Just googled the RMS and yep, they are only for heavy vehicles still.
Funny, everyone slows to 100km/h between Aberdeen and Muswellbrook, and the same south of Muswellbrook as it only says Average Speed camera unlike the one at Bendemeer which says it's for monitoring Heavy Vehicles.
I've been keeping my speed down through them for nought !

I figured when dad overtook someone right at one of the camera sites after sitting on 115 the entire way, they weren't interested :p

If they recorded average speed of light vehicles through them I'd have lost my licence hundreds of times over!
