Does this Brand New F 150 have a 3L TDV6 inside?

It might.
This Ford F-150 might have a Land Rover turbodiesel V6 (http://www.autoblog.com/2015/12/17/ford-f150-jaguar-land-rover-diesel-spy-shots/)

I wonder why they would choose to use such an old engine. That 2.7/3.0 V6 has been around 12years..... It was used in the Citroen C6 way back in 2004....

Why wouldn't they use one of the modern tech incredibly frugal/powerful turbo diesels rather than that dinosaur

Well the Explorer used the 4 litre V6 which was a direct descendant of the 3
litre Essex V6 from 1960 something so using a TDV6 is very modern.

Anyway the hardware ie block etc is relatively unimportant these days , its all in the firmware and software and maybe turbo arrangements.

Look at the incredible power that can be obtained from a XR6Turbo, and that block is 1960.

Not quite , the 4ltr is a 90 degree v6 which ford us developed in the mid 80's and fitted to the thunderbird and also supercharged before buick did.
The essex v6 is a 60 degree v6 loosely modelled on the german cologne v6.

No Mate we are both wrong.
It is a 60 degree descendant of the Cologne V6.
Look at this Wikipedia page.

Explains about the 4 litre in the Ford Explorer and Ranger.
