View Full Version : Advice required re. Frog removal
Stuck
22nd December 2015, 07:48 PM
It's raining here at the moment and I've got a frog which has taken residence in one of the stormwater pipes that run down the side of my house to the gutter. It's making a hell of a ruckus which can be heard at each of the downpipes. I'm guessing that it's closer to the footpath as it only stops croaking when I walk near the outlet at the gutter. I don't want to hurt it but I certainly want to move it on. Anyone ?.

Turn the music\radio\noise up. Frogs in downpipes is just part of life. Leave the poor bigger alone. He is just looking for a sexy lady...

I have them in the rod holders in my boat, winch mast on the boat trailer, downpipes on the house and other places. They make a racket but are pretty cute little buggers. I just have to be careful where i put my rods...sometimes here an upset 'cark' and quickly take the rod out and choose another holder! Once had to grab one that jumped on the Yamaha outboard and looked like he waa about to make a break for the water.. trouble was it was salt water. Stuck him in a small esky with the lid a little ajar and brought him back home...they are very territorial.
Cheers

The frog will move when it finds a mate. Assuming it is a green frog, they actually breathe thru their skin [ true] so if you handle it, have nothing on your hands that the frog will absorb.

Frogs are beautiful. Cane toads are another matter. Their poison makes the mower blades rust too.

Why do birds not take the fish if a cane toad is present?

Some birds will take fish from ponds if the pond is open it really has nothing to do with the presents of cane toads

Spraying Dettol kills cane toads.
I'll swap your cane toads for the bloke in the next campsite who cracks his whip every afternoon and wakes up the baby and freaks the dogs.

Be careful as Dettol is residual to a certain extent so if, when spraying a toad, you spray the ground as well then any frog coming into contact with that area within a day or so may also experience toxic shock & croak it!

I have a little Woolworths spray bottle set to Jet,come up behind said toad, spray at close quarters and go around next day and pick up dead black toads,i flick them onto our busy main road they then become part of the environment (a flat smear)
