View Full Version : Not many NEW ones left?

Had a look through "CarSales" yessterday, as I do from time to time, and whilst there are 105 or so Defenders listed, a close look reveals that there are very few new ones listed,....a few 90s, couldn't see a 110, with the exception of the Adventure Model, of which strangely enough there seem to be a few examples listed.
Obviously, there are a few "on the water", as we speak, and maybe even a few (very few at this stage!) yet to be built, but I wonder how many of these are actually unsold?
Has anyone tried to buy "a new one" in the last couple of weeks?
Pickles.

Well, Congratulations....a lovely Christmas present.
What are your specs/colour etc, and what are the details of the remaining 90?
Regards, Pickles.

Back from a quick trip and now have just over 2500k's on the clock  but we're getting on well. Very impressed with how capable it is off road. It's a scotia grey with the black pack.

Ahh ya bugger! I wanted that 1!

I settled on a whitey with sawtooths, sun roof, leather, "sliders" and sound upgrade.

After this heat in Adelaide I'm rationalising this forced white paint more and more. Hope she treats you well.

Spare a thought for us poor beggers still waiting for delivery!

Sounds good, glad it's going well, and that you're enjoying it,...but there was never going to be any doubt about that, was there?!
Pics?....Pickles.

It must be almost a record even for a Land Rover but the vehicle was in the driveway for less that two hours before I attacked it with a spanner. Needed to pull one of the rear seats out and stick an MDF shelf for the dogs to travel on the following day as a stop gap until I can work out what to do for drawers and cages etc...

Sorry AlecW, I've got to say I love the colour, but will concede the white is more practical. It's not been too bad so far but I'll let you know when I've got the roof lining out and laying dynamat so you can have a laugh at me... It'll be worth the wait when it arrives.

Please let me know how you get on with roof, I "need" to do the same. Good luck with that suede!

Ooooh I just noticed you are running GY MTR Kevlar's on it. I have ordered them for my 90 and have them on my 110. Think they are great. Did you go 265 75? Flirting with 285 75's

We went looking with our daughter last week for second hand ones. Not many around and for the prices they're asking we ended up at Southern Land Rover where she had a choice of 5 90's. One of the 5 was the demo one which is the twin of this one. She picks it up next Friday. That's 3 Defenders in the family.

...apparently the suede is going to attract white dog hair like nothing else

The tyres are from the factory so are the 235/85s. I've not done enough k's on them to form an opinion.

Wow that's the first time I have seen them on a factory Defender. They take a little more airing down than normal as the kevlar makes the side walls quite stiff. Handles quite well though as it cuts down on flex in corners on road. Great tire and very puncture resistent. You did well getting those as stock

Yeah, I had requested the Goodyear MTR's from factory but was told in no uncertain terms that they wouldn't do it on a 90, only a 110.

The MT/R with Kevlar is much stronger than the standard MTR and has a very different tread pattern. Designed for a rock crawling and spinning in thick mud re the spaced out lugs on the shoulders. Lot more expensive too :(

I wrangled a set of 4 265/75's for $1500 fitted. They usually want like $400 a pop

Looks like I did good then  The dealer was going to do an order of a 110 with the MTR's for stock at the same time as mine and then swap the tyres over before delivery - may be they just upgraded them independently?

Yes you did great, I think must have been independent as don't know of the factory putting them on. Pretty darn quiet considering how aggressive they are. I'm getting a set of 285's and going for it after running the 265s for a few years on my 110. Enjoy them:twisted:

Please be aware that the OEM MTR's are not available in Australia. The tread pattern on the ones that Goodyear send us here is quite different! :(

Yes I'm aware, they are a radically different tire. Chalk and Cheese
