Holy crap. I hope they were ok 😮 I think any 4wd would have been flat after that roll over.

Have a look at a few of the comments... Looks like the guys survived.
Reading comments on the full version of the video, he snapped the front right axle after the first bounce and then the distributor cap came loose leaving the car in that situation...immobile, and in 3wd
Given that info... Look at the video again...
Contrary to popular opinion, momentum is NOT always the key.
I sincerely hope the driver is ok

How true about momentum  There is a time and a place for momentum and not climbing hills in that sort of hilly country is a start .
Im glad they survived but yes it can turn pear shape real quickly:cool:

Highlights the importance of picking the right line, driving it steady and to your own ability.
He bounced off his line pretty quickly and got crossed over. The risks of 4wding!!

Also highlights the importance of securing cargo, there's some huge boxes strewn about the track

so stupid, so preventable.
he's gets told not to move. any moron can see he is close to tipping.
he moves a little.
he moves a second time.
just for fun, he moves a third time. and it rolls.
i have no sympathy for this dickhead.

Dunno how they would know the distributer cap came loose, everything would be loose after that type of roll.
Stalling a manual would be very easy in that situation.

I've got another theory: the tyres were popping off the bead.
Simexes do that at low pressures. I've had them peel when crossed up like this. They're certainly off the rim at the end of the roll.

none of the beads were broken before rolling, if you turn up the volume at 1.22 you can here him cranking the engine which wont start.
the decent on that hill is very steep with the passenger side rear wheel going up the embankment with the drivers side rear dropping into the rut as he went back = well watch from 1.22
I bet the spotter wished he'd just hooked up the winch cable to be safe...

Going too fast coming up with both wheels off the ground and then he landed and slid sideways. Needed TC or a rear locker I reckon.

Correct me if I'm miss ng something, but does not the strength of a Rangie / Classic display in it's abillity to sure-footedly crawl up such terrain?
No offence or 'armchair-judgement' implied, - but, I get the impression that starring in a Spectacular Video was driving the right foot more than the owner's mind was.
On the bright side, the audience certainly got its money's worth...
And we've had a good lesson reinforced, so 'thanks' to the participants !

That was a good attempt, maybe a bit heavy footed but nothing too crazy.
Definitely was time for the winch to be utilised thou!
Hopefully all involved were ok?

I would be taking a guess that the vacuum ran out in the booster and that's why he rolled back on the brakes.

Poor bugger trashing his pride and joy like that. An accident that anyone could have had, and one he was lucky to walk away from.

I feel for the guy. Who knows how much experience he had or what real condition his let's face it old car was in? Looking at hill I bet most people's adrenalin would be up. Often the only way we learn is by trying and failing. Just sorry his car was wrecked but lucky they were ok

Yeah, feel sorry for the guy. It could happen to anyone. I would have gone slower, but I'm an old fart.

Do you know this guy? If you do and he lives near the area that footage was taken, i'd like to meet him.
I had a '88 RRC a lot like that one, with 33's and cut guard with flares. Now I drive a D2. I find the biggest issue with driving a Land Rover is being trained/told by Toyota or Patrol people how to drive it. While the concept is the same, the vehicles are nothing the same. Granted no matter the 4WD a winch anchor was necessary, and he may have given it too much mumbo considering the articulation of the RRC, assuming he didn't stuff it up to fit the large tires.
The 10 spline axle could easily have broken on that bounce. But it doesn't look like it as the wheel still had drive, maybe he stuffed his diff. If he was told to pull the hand brake on and wasn't instructed to leave his foot on the brake what would have happened in a Land Rover? It would roll backwards as the transmission brake would not have locked instantly. How many RRC's have a decent working hand brake anyway, especially in reverse.
I'm not saying this is what happened but I sympathize with this guy as it can be conflicting listening to people who drive Toyota's telling you how to drive your Land Rover.
In the end he made a mistake, fortunately it didn't cost anyone's life.
