Welcome Keith,

The Landy will be easy compared to the others you have done . Sounds like youve got a good one to start with, but I won't mention about the photos.

Cheers Steve

What a great car, good to see.
If it were mine, I'd make it run, and leave it in the patina as pictured

Enjoy your trip and keep us up with your progress

Now that is a good example nice and straight, with not too much crud/rust on the chassis, it's in much better condition than some of the wrecks I have started with.
Posting images is a relatively easy task, only 5 years ago I had to email mine to anyone so they could put post them, I opened a photobucket account and quickly learned how to, and have never looked back, anyway good to see another 80" heading back into the fold, cheers Dennis

So many questions ,all panels are 99% straight but some have stress fractures around bolt holes and some have splits and a couple of tears where the wing mirrors go.
Right hand bottom bulkhead bolt giving me a very hard time [ just bought 4 more cans of wd40 and 1 can of perseverance ??].
Will definitely strip to chassis and re do mechanicals, will decide what to do with body work as I go but still on the lookout for a drivers side door top, the passenger side is of a s1 but has the hand cut out in it so its off an earlier s1 but can re do and could at a pinch get a mirror copy made.
Wiring is shot so a new loom looms. Here is an idea how about a polished alloy finish, save on paint and a lot of work, how's That sound:angel:

Having seen the state of the wiring in Wombat, my thought was a new loom was going to be the cheapest and easiest option... and less likely to alienate me with my autolec who'd have to sort out my 'fixes'.

It'd look great... and we're all holding our breath waiting to see how you get those panels perfectly smooth so they look good polished :D

What a pearler, even the tail lights are in one piece.
Pity you weren't abit closer. I could swap you some door tops as I have the later tops and need the earlier ones.

Well the bolt finally came un done and the bulk head is of , worst of chassis damage is where the to hitch was fitted but the actual cross member will only need a patch put in, same with the hole worn in the c/member where the drive shaft rubbed.
Couple of photos of troops? with from L to R the dead ,the dying and the reinforcements???.

If that steering wheel in the second picture still has the Bakelite horn push/dip switch attached, I'd remove it. These firewalls have got a habit of falling over and landing on the steering wheel.

HI thanks should know better? the horn push has gone but the switch is still there but will do as I am told. Regards Keith:censored:

Hi- FYI I think you may have the original number plates there too..
I see your plate is Vic, GAD-929... According to various sources, Victorian black and white "Vic" plates were issued from 1953 (thru to mid seventies), starting with 'GAA-000'. So a 'GAD' plate on a '53 LR makes sense. Greater minds than me could verify this though.

Also, ages ago I (well, my family..) owned a Bristol 401 that we took back to the bare (polished) aluminium body. It looks great, but you will wince every time you hear a stone, stick, etc hit the car...

Cheers and good luck with your resto
