A pic tells a thousand words :D
Place an old credit card down between the door and the trim, of course remove handle first. Make sure the print on the car is facing away from the paint just in case it marks the paint. Now insert another old card on top of it and insert a screw driver between the cards and gently twist the screw driver and the clip will pop without any risk to the paint or the door trim. I needed to remove the trim as the dealer has put the bracket for the light actuator on back to front so the horn honked every time I locked the car, very annoying indeed.
Anyway job done :D

That is a good tip Chris.
Another easy way to remove trim without damage to paint is buy a set of these....
SCA Door Trim Remover Set - 5 Piece - Supercheap Auto Australia (http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/online-store/products/SCA-Door-Trim-Remover-Set-5-Piece.aspx?pid=282096#Recommendations)
Or you can get them even cheaper of ebay.

Thanks :) Mine was free though :D and no twisting or any movement at all that might mark the paint.

I use a set of those.
I used to use all sorts of dodgy ways to remove trim (and also broken my fair share too), but these are by far the best, as they are notched and allow the trim to be prised up around the clip, rather than just near it.

Thanks fellas, this will help when I muster the courage and motivation to do a full scale dynamat-foam-carpet of the rear end of my new Def 90 when I get it.
Will do the back end first as it seems relatively forgiving being all mostly flat surfaces. Then the front. FUN- not

With the credit cards I gently slipped the carts in the gap and gently twisted the screwdriver and the panel popped off with no effort at all. As nothing is twisting onto the paint at all there is not even tiny surface scuffs. I am sure the plastic tools work well, but I would be worried to leave some marks especially if the paint is new and soft like on my door (resprayed as door was replaced).

Haven't looked that closely but, as they say, surely a little buffing paste will fix that. :D

Thanks, actually a good use for credit cards, and cheaper than using them for anything else :D

I like your ingenuity, good one.
The alternative if you dont have credit cards :p is as already posted the tools made for the job, I'm not sure what the Supercheap auto ones are made of, but it will be some form of durable plastic. The Snap-on ones I use are some sort of carbon fiber I think, incredibly tough and are an essential tool for the professional that works on new vehicles.
