Went to change the damaged windshield ( Our Mickey Mouse neighbor decided to use his arc welder above the Land Rover, putting hundreds of burnt spot on the windshield)

Paid $110 for the tiny Defender unit when a large BMW windshield was offered for $80, the brand is Benson.

Back home I Googled the brand name, to my happiness and joy, i found that it is made in China

From different reviews, it seems that they are 2 mm thick instead of the usual 3 mm

Anybody has experience with Chinese made windshields?

Most all the windscreens available here are Chinese too.

I had one fitted this time last year and it's been OK.
I was a bit apprehensive, I remember reading 20 years ago they couldn't float the glass there without getting ripples and distortion when first making windscreens but they all seem fine now.

And I agree, for a flat piece of glass they seem expensive, but my insurance paid for it so that was ok.
BTW, the tip is to use only genuine windscreen rubbers, the aftermarket ones just don't cut it. I bought two, and they didn't fit properly, but the windscreen fitter sourced a genuine one and again, insurance paid for it.

from inside the car the glass looks fine, look at it at an angle when entering the car you could see ripples, I hope that it won't be an issue under sunlight.
