Lighting Regulations for Bike Racks / Light Boards

Hi,

I want put lights on a Bike Rack, and was interested in a small footprint style (as mentioned in this thread (http://www.aulro.com/afvb/d3-d4-rrs/230125-trying-source-indicators-plate-lights-bike-rack.html)).

I was thinking of putting on something the size of a motorcycle/scooter light, but then was wondering if it would be compliant with NSW regulations etc.

I can't seem to find any information on lighting regulations for bike racks, as they are not trailers (which I did find the regulations for).

The commercially produced light boards (from SuperCheap Auto etc for boat trailers, bike racks etc) do not seem to have anything to show that they are complying with any minimum widths etc either.

Please can anyone point me in the right direction?

If they do not obscure the lights:
a) If it is during the day - no additional lighting is required
b) If it is during the night - additional (white) lighting is only required to illuminate the bike plate so that it is visible from 20m (apparently some people just use a battery powered LED such as a white bike front light).

I have found that my lights are obscured though, so might as well go the whole hog.

Also note that either an RMS issued bike plate is required (cannot use cardboard, photocopies etc as that can get you a 2nd fine), or use the original car's plates.
