D500
Just a few weeks after someone upgraded his DX body to a D7200
Pretty impressive looking toy!
So is this if you happen to win the 70 odd mill this weekend... D5

So, is there an almost new D7200 body coming up on eBay soon...? :D ;)

True.
Some people have been waiting a long time for a true Pro DX upgrade to the D300S
I can see some cheap D7100 and D7200's coming onto the second hand market if it does.
Looks like an amazing camera - not sure I want to pay what they will want in Aus. for one though. :(

Sorry Gav,
Not at least until they get the bugs out of it and the initial price comes down.
One particularly naughty boy bought a rather long Nikon lens with his D7200, so no D500 in my immediate future.

Not at all unusual for new models to have recall issues.
Nikon's recent past has seen quite a few of them. Some are easily fixed with firmware upgrades but some others needed to go back to Nikon for repair.
Nikon Australia - Service Advisory (http://www.nikon.com.au/en_AU/service/service_advisory)
Also, history tells me they release a new model and 6-8 months later the price often slides by a few hundred dollars.
I'm happy with what I have now.... but not unlike my passion for Land Rovers , that doesn't stop me drooling at nice toys :D

Well the first D500's are now in the wild in the US...
Some pretty interesting reports and some great images appearing like this one.. (Taken by a Nikoncafe forum user who seems pretty happy with his new toy.)

I dare say they will get snapped up pretty quickly when they go on sale here in the next week or so.
Apparently the recent Japanese earthquakes are going to give Nikon a production headache in the short term....so maybe we will have a little longer to keep saving

So....
Anyone bought one yet? I've taken one for a quick testdrive...
immediately felt incompetent. Continuous High is 10fps. and it goes on FOREVER.
The worst bit about that, is that I decided to be an idiot and test it out by doing a quick spin on the spot and shooting cH..... not a single out of focus or blurred image. Program AF mode, with a 70-200 2.8 G hanging off the front.
I have to admit, beg, borrow, steal.... you DX owners out there will trade in your 7K series bodies for this.....
I'm scrounging around for $$$$. Might have to liquidate some assets.

Got this in my email today...

Might be of interest to anyone in Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane who's like to go play with D500 or D5 and assorted lenses on Nikon...
Oh and go carts :D

I'd forgotten about this thread.
I really like it. I even stopped shooting film for a month.
Need some more free time to play a little though. Work is getting in the way of fun!
