So can anyone tell me why Land Rover Australia are not stocking the G4 style roof rack anymore?

Just had a roof rack delivered and had to return it to Land Rover. The dealer was also unaware that the style had changed.

They had explained to me that they were now being built here, but had no clue that it was no longer the G4 style.

Have sourced one from the UK, and cheaper with delivery. Genuine Land Rover. So long as they can get it themselves.

Shame really.

Curious what it looked like.

Only explanation I can think of is that they stopped selling them because they are crap.

I bought one. It rusted inside 2 years. The rack is plastic coated which fallen off. And to top it all off they give a weight loading capacity of 45 kg!!!

I have an ARB rack on my 90 and it's a ripper. I have a short ladder (Graeme Cooper) mounted on the rear of the vehicle and I can get up there and walk all over the rack without a problem. I've carried 6 jerry cans of fuel, a second spare wheel and other stuff on it, over Simpson Desert, up the Canning Stock Route, with no problems.

Yeah, the load rating is a slight problem. But I am using it just to clear space in the rear. No intentions of large overland trips just yet.

The draw card for me is it still allows me to use the sun hatch. I have a Bearmach G4 on back order. It's the only one I can find that has the sun hatch space. Still has the plastic coating.

Might have to get the welder out and build my own.

Unless anyone knows of another brand that's doing that??

The front runner and Hannibal roof racks are very good, There is a space between the rack and the roof which might be enough to open the sun hatch all the way????
I think the front runner has a bigger gap between the roof then the Hannibal.
They are made out of aluminium so are much lighter and don't rust!
I'm guessing the sun hatch only opens a couple of inches?
If you're happy having bars cover the view from inside the car then it might work.
I find the racks helps with the heat as most of the sun is blocked out by the bars.

Or just go the 3/4 rack like on mine in the photo, then you won't have any sunroof issues. ✔️

On my previous 110 I had a full length roof rack which ended just over the top of the windscreen and about a half inch over the back of the roof it was very solid and could carry everything and turned out to be invaluable to free space up inside of the vehicle. keeping in mind how top-heavy you can make the vehicle

ok, time for a curve ball.

I've got 127 cm roof rails off my last vehicle (Thule aerobars), just wondering if anyone is able to advise whether or not they will fit my yet to arrive 110?

Agree on the Hannibal racks, they are bullet proof, and there is enough space to open the hatch, but alas the view will still be obscured.

Not a huge deal.

Might look at fabing my own up off the G4 design.

How does the new K9 rack compare with the others on the market?

I had been contemplating a Safety Devices rack based on aesthetics alone, but I think these lighter and flatter decks seem to make more sense.

We recently supplied 2 2.8m Patriot Racks with the custom Sunroof opening.

Just out of curiosity, how far does the sunroof protrude when it's popped open?

I too have to sort this roofrack/sunroof thing out at a later date. However that is a future-Alec problem. Screw him he can deal with that........
