British actor Alan Rickman dies from cancer aged 69 - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) (http://www.abc.net.au/news/2016-01-14/alan-rickman-dies-from-cancer-aged-69/7089984)

Another in the 69 club. He was a great character actor especially as a villain. I must watch Quigley Down Under again where he cops it at the end....

A good sense of humour too. Galaxy Quest comes to mind.

Crikey, 68 or 69 seems to be a bad age lately with David Bowie, Stevie Wright and now Alan Rickman dropping off the twig. I loved him as the bad guy in "Harry Potter".

RIP Alan Rickman.:(

When I saw the name I immediately thought of motorcycles but they were different Rickmans.

I had to Google his name. I've never heard of him. I looked his filmography and noticed I've never seen any of his films.

69 is too young - I'm 68!

Brilliant actor with an extremely long career.
I first saw him playing the Rev. Obadiah Slope, in the excellent BBC Series, "The Barchester Chronicles" C1982.
R.I.P. Pickles.

He did the baddies really well.
Strange that in the shots of all his movies that they showed him in on TV including Die Hard, Robin Hood, Harry Potter etc they did not mention that great movie" Quigley down under" in which he played Marston the landholder.
I heard Sellick took his horse back to the US after the movie.
