Motorists could see petrol prices fall below $1 a litre | The New Daily (http://thenewdaily.com.au/money/2016/01/14/motorists-see-petrol-prices-fall-1-litre/)

When i first got my licence, super petrol was 19 cents a litre. I would get change from $2.00 filling my motor bike ( road bike). $20.00 would get me from Merredin to Perth and drive around all day and night in my 64 toyota crown. Those were the days. But on the other hand i was only earning $75.00 in my hand for a 45 hour week, as a trainee station master/ number taker. Night shift paid more $$

When i first got my licence, super petrol was 19 cents a litre.

When I got my licence it was the equivalent for a gallon. I was shocked when I was transferred to Carnarvon in 1971 and it cost 35c/gallon - the same as a pack of 20 Marlboro!

We are all showing our age, when i got my first car, petrol was 13c/l.

When it crept up to around 22c/l there was a big panic and everyone was changing their cars over to smaller 4 cylinders.Welcome the Gemini,120y and 180B,etc.

Yet today, well over 35% of commodores sold are V8,and you can't buy a LC that isn't a V8,how things have changed.

I've moved all my super out of the market, into cash, which in my fund is capital guaranteed.[ did the same at the beginning of the GFC, didn't make much for some time, but didn't lose any. I have a bad feeling about this.]

I no longer fuel up at Mittagong. Petrol there is regularly 30c/l more expensive than here.

I filled both the L322 and Turbo Forester with 95RON yesterday here at Emu Plains for 108.9c/l

I just bought a Costco membership and i am about to do a trip to relocate to Sydney. 170l of Diesel cost me $159. So cheep and i can fill up at another Costco as i drive into Sydney. Even though Petrol is dropping and getting close to their prices. Diesel is still $0.30 cheaper. So the saving already has covered my membership and i've only had it for a few days. I cant wait to see what the rest of the year will be like.

I've never seen a Costco servo.

There is only 1 or two in each state. And they are not at all the stores. Before this price drop they would normally be a big saving. Not sure if they will keep it up now that the rest of the servos are dropping their prices to where it should be.

E10 is 95.3c/l around here. In Canberra over the weekend, I saw it was $1.24/l

I filled locally yesterday with 95RON for 106.9 (less 4c discount) - I had sufficient fuel to get back from Canberra without needing to fuel up at the high Canberra (or intermediate location) prices.

Last week, a local Woolies Caltex put the price up to $1.26/l from 99.9/l then a few hours later put it back down. I asked the attendant what happened and he said they put it up for some unknown reason as they hadn't had a fuel drop. However, none of the other local servos followed suit so they had to drop it again (there's another servo on the opposite corner).

Well, it rose last night by 25c/litre.

The media always shows the rise and fall as a sine wave:

https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2016/02/647.jpg

whereas it's really a reverse sawtooth, i.e., sharp rise, slow fall.
