Well we finally flown to Adelaide to pick up our Defender...
After being stalled for a couple of days in Adelaide due to a public holiday we weren't aware of and needing a couple of issues with the wagon tending too , which were done so thanks to the guys at Britparts.
We set off on our first adventure..a road trip back to Newcastle NSW.
As luck would have it we set off in near heat wave conditions and due to bush fires on the Great Ocean Rd we needed an alternative route..being following the Murray River.
Travelling only a fews hrs each day due to the 40+? days we drove early morning and swam and relaxed the rest of the time..
On arriving home not were we only unbelievably surprised to work out that we'd only spent approx $200 on fuel ( with a leak ) but we were so not ready to park her up that we headed off again the very next day...again camping but this time heading Nth along the East Coast.
We met plenty of Defender owners on the road all giving the 'wave' ..
We are now planning our fortnightly long weekends away camping, fossicking and fishing with our 2 young ones !

having purchased a puma 130 Ranger,, I was wondering if the turbo hose that keeps failing on the Defender is the same item on the Ranger.
I'm wondering if it might be prudent to carry a spare on my outback wanderings.
Having got in and looked under and over it will be a positive bastard to change at the best of times.
Do any mechanics here know?
Maybe I will talk to British Offroad and see if they know .
sorry for the hijack , I meant this to be new thread.....maybe mods may move it.

Please accept a round of applause for a sensible and practical approach to bringing home your new vehicle :)

Perhaps I should have described her a lot better haha..definitely not the last one in Aus..she's a 93mdl 2.5tdi ...apart from that I'm still learning exactly what or where she fits in to the Defender line up etc.
She's not a shiny and perhaps as desirable as the later mdls but for our 1st and for what we want to do we are stoked with her ...even my wife so that's gota be a winner right there in my books 😉
