Hi All,

I've done some searching and found info on service kits but haven't been able to determine an answer to my question.

I'm looking to DIY service and was looking at service kits (Island 4x4 as a starting and reference point for this question)and they offer 3 choices.

Prices are AUD at $2 to the pound. NB: The actual price is not as important as the difference.

1. Britpart: $40.00
2. OEM Quality: $70.00
3.Genuine: $170.00

I know the general argument about $15K engine vs $100 extra for genuine stuff but at $170 for genuine it's not as appealing doing myself as it is at $40 or $70. You could say there is an inverse relationship between my enthusiasm to DIY and the cost of the DIY.

So what do people think about using the non genuine service kits and what are peoples experiences?

I am using Mann Hummel or Mahle filters, both reputable makes and I believe OEM and reasonable prices..Keep away from the blue boxed #1 choice!

When you are getting prices contact Roverlord on here(Mario and Heather).Get a price via pm rather than their ebay store, they pass on the saving in ebay fees to you. They are VERY quick at getting stuff posted to WA.

Britpart, sell Britpart. OEM and Genuine.

Allmakes have Allmakes, then PR2 which is more or less Genuine in quality, then they have OEM, like Filtron etc who make filters etc for most major brands, or then Genuine.
