Low oil pressure warning

Just started up the engine after my 3.5 to 3.9 swap. It seems to be very noisey in the top end and I have the oil dash warning light on now.
I pulled the dizzy again to double check the oil pump is engaged...and it looks to be as the dizzy sits all the way down and the tongue and groove seems to align. I am just wondering of the oil is getting to the heads????
I have attached a pic of the oil sender just to check if I have indeed attached the wire to the correct sender... I think I have according to my pre-removal pics. Is there any way to check the sender hasn't been damaged?? and how can I check if the oil pump is working??
Really keen to get on the road, but this warning light has me spooked.
Also, may have stuffed the power steering pump too..... I snapped the bolt holding the pulley on and my repair job may have a limited life expectancy! Don't ya hate it when this sort of sh#t happens.

checking oil delivery is easy, crack the oil sender off and wind it on the starter oil will come out.

if you're not getting oil out of there on the starter you need to check on a few things.


first, did you put oil in it (I'm not being a smart ass, Im out of fingers for counting the number of times I've seen it)

second did you prime the pump before you tried to start it?

did you prefil the oil filter as much as you could before you fitted it?

if you didnt do any of that you can get away with back filling the oil delivery side through the pressure switch hole

you can also cheat it a bit by using a brake bleeder on the oil switch to pull the oil up through the pump.

Just started up the engine after my 3.5 to 3.9 swap. There's a difference in the front cover gasket between the 3.5 & 3.9.
If you fit the wrong one, there's an oil passage that doesn't seal properly & will suck air between the front cover & engine block. Don't ask me how I know this...:mad:

I have tried to top up the oil via the switch hole but still won't prime. May need to draw oil up through the hole some how.... Don't have any tools for this, so will have to ponder on this puzzlement.

I found an old post that suggested taking the relief valve screw off, removing the spring, and injecting a heap of vaso into the pump. I guess the other option is to drop the pump cover off by way of 4 screws and pack the gear that way.
Would this do the job?
