Interesting one this morning while teaching my grand daughter to drive in the 2a. The throttle jammed open, fortunately while stopped.

Looking under the bonnet revealed an interesting picture. Some of you may have noticed that on the Zenith the throttle arm passes very close to the link on the acceleration pump as the throttle is opened. What had happened is that the threaded end of the ball joint had been propped down by the spread leg of the split pin on that link. The pin in the link is free to rotate, and had to be in exactly the right position for it to catch. I was not able to get it to catch again!

But something to be aware of. I suggest bending the legs of the split pin right back. I had left these just spread, as I have to take the top off the carburettor in the near future to change the float.

That could have been worrying for a learner drive.

I had the throttle on the Series III held partially open when the windscreen washer hose fell down and lodged between the throttle arm and the stop.

It happened at Chambers Pillar and was only open enough to be a mild inconvenience.
