Greetings RR world.
Don't judge me,,,,,, yet!
I have another stupid question regarding the L322.
Has anyone performed a live axle conversion?
Stupid question I know but I am curious.
Thanks
Todd

Extremely difficult (Nothing is impossible)

A: The structual integrity of the mono chassis hasnt been design with consideration to have major load points along its length. would most likely twist or buckle when hitting a large bump at speed. extended subframes would need to be made to brace all the way to these points.

B: The air suspension usual gives enough articulation in comparison to live axle.

C: if you do pick a wheel, the traction control is superb eliminating the need for flex really.

D: How much money and time do you have, I want some

Bugger!
I forgot they were mono.
Looks like I'm screwed.
I'm not so keen on ifs.
Back to the drawing board.
Thanks

Hi speed handling is awesome with ifs and irs, but you can't get the same articulation as a live axle.

Some small tweaking of the sensors and you can get more wheel travel.

The standard flex of the l322 is better than most cars out of the factory, with the TC system and good tyres, I have never felt that I need more flex (I have really pushed mine) It is just like having 2 locked diffs and that means flex is far more redundant.

You will go a lot further with the traction control in these that you will if you had open diffs on a patrol with 3 years worth of flex

How much articluation do you want? Is the car going to be a play toy or regular driver? The range of movement on these is pretty impressive for ifs- granted its no comp truck - and the traction control (where fitted) does a good job when a wheels in the air.

It won't do this though:

More of a toy than daily driver.
I've been in a few ifs rigs and they do a good job but seem to "rock over" after getting a wheel in the air and for me don't feel as balanced when crossed up. I prefer the feel of a live axle.

The L322 and Discovery 3 and 4 are not only IFS they are also IRS and have air suspension, no springs. The system works just as well as any live axle off road, with cross linking in low range to simulate the effect of live axles.

My D4 will do exactly what you has been shown in that photo but with normal height car ramps, not extended height. My son's live axle D1 lifts one wheel about 25mm on the same ramps. the L322 is pretty similar to the D4 I would think.

I also presume you do not wish to have the car registered any more?

Why not buy a P38 or classic?
