Being Australia Day, some may be interested in the story of the colonies, in the beginning. A very interesting read, by Lieut. Breton, R.N. For some reason it starts at chapter 7, scroll up to the beginning.

Excursions in New South Wales, Western Australia, and Van Dieman's Land, during the Years 1830, 1831, 1832, and 1833. (http://gutenberg.net.au/ebooks14/1402161h.html#ch-07)

Thanks for sharing. I always enjoy learning more of our history. Also I feel some connection to that period as I am a direct descendant of the first WA Colonial Chaplin (Wittenoom) and some early explorers ( Goyder and Egerton-Warburton). None of them died of their adventures so no-one was too interested in them as I grew up in the 70s!

Hi,
The link is
< http://gutenberg.net.au/ebooks14/1402161h.html#ch-07>
without the <>.
Change the 7 to a 1 and it should start at the top.

Thanks for sharing all your interesting treasures.

Cheers
