View Full Version : EKA not working - Locked Out!!

I've been a bad bad boy and my Range Rover is punishing me. First it was a crazy EAS hard fault that simply wouldn't be reset with my EAS Unlock V4. More on that in another thread.

This arvo I received a small parcel from the postie. A china clone key fob case. I took it with me and went down to Newcastle to pick the kids up from school. While waiting for the monsters to escape class, I started swapping over the PCB and key over to the new china clone fob. Job done or so I thought....

The kids get out and then we go to the RR. First I press unlock on the fob. Nothing.
Key in the drivers door to manually unlock. Kids and I get in and I go to start RR.
ENGINE DISABLED PRESS REMOTE OR ENTER KEY CODE
Beauty I thought, I get to use the EKA code in my drivers handbook. I get out of the RR but after stuffing up the code or something like that, the alarm goes berserk and the drivers door goes superlock mode. The door refuses to open with either handle and the lock button is locked.

I attempt to enter the EKA code again but the RR is not responsive. The drivers door is locked. I then open the bonnet (I left the drivers window open), the alarm goes off. I try disconnecting the battery but all this does is locks the BeCM for 30 minutes with KEY CODE LOCKOUT.

At this time I was fast losing patience. I managed to bypass some wires and fired up the V8 and got back home as fast as I could before something else happened.

Has anyone else had a similar problem here? Does anyone here have a solution or some advice for me?

Cheers
Mark

Did the key activate the lock manually prior to this episode? Just asking because this sounds an awful lot like the lock link has come off the latch assy. It needs this to activate the EKA sequence.

Yeah Scouse I'm pretty sure it did. I've partially removed the door trim to start testing the door handle. I'm almost certain that no matter how many times I rotate the key in the handle, the central locking/BeCM isn't getting a signal.

Righto, it feels like Queensland here in the Hunter Valley right now, humid as.

I found a wiring loom plug that goes from the latch to the door outstation. I then applied 12V to activate the CDL motor which then opened the door for me. Happy days.

The problem I had was the pushrod from the outside door handle for the key had come off the door handle latch. Hence why when I rotated the key, nothing would happen.

Once the pushrod was reattached I was able to use my EKA code and everything works.

A trap for young players indeed..... Make sure that the pushrod doesn't come off with the constant closing of the drivers door.
