Nanocom wont connect

Just asking to see if anyone has experienced this or has any ideas on what may be wrong and will be asking on nanocom forum as well.
nanocom was working fine the other day, unplugged it and put it back in glove box where it lives. about an hour later I decided to check something so plugged it back in and it powered up fine but wont connect to any ecu's (engine, slabs, ace, instruments etc) so ran the latest update from nanocom forum (1.30 from memory) and tried again and still wont connect to ecu's.
ran user test and says pin 7 error all others ok.
cleared vin cache and rescanned and comes up with n/a on all of them.
the obd lead has never been plugged in wrong sequence as when I first got it , I plugged it in to nanocom and has never been unplugged so that it could never be plugged in to car before nanocom by accident.
I don't have access to another disco to try it on to see if it works in another car to eliminate the car side of the equation
Hopefully someone has the answer as I don't want to have to freight it back to Cyprus if I can help it.

I've read of a bad earth at the veichle 's OBD plug can cause this.
I can't help on where the earth wire is bolted to but possibly RH kick panel for a guess.

Check that the pin in the Nanocom cable hasn't been pushed in?

My Nanocom has a red LED on the OBD2 plug. Does yours and if so does it come on? I need to check but I think there is a fuse for the OBD2 circuit. If so check that too.

I seem to recall that there is a fuse in the Nanocom also.
I was reading their site and AFAIR you have to take off the end. Please check the site before action.

Pin 7 is the one which connects to all ECUs, as long as it powers up just doesnt connect to ECUs and corroborated with that pin 7 error you should make sure that pin 7 in the car's OBD socket is not loosen or something, it's the one connected to the purple wire, plug nanocom in then push the purple wire from behind the socket and try then

Sorry to take so long to get back other thing in life cropped up.
tried powering it with separate 12v and not connected all pin ests ok
plugged it back in to car and pin 7 fail so did what sierrafey suggested and got pin 7 ok.
All pins ok on pin test so I think great but still wont connect to ecu's so still a no go.
Any other suggestions please

Cancel that , just tried again now doesn't matter how much I jiggle the wired pin 7 fails
and when I say jiggle it only moves about a mm or 2

Hi, first of all measure voltage across pin 16 and both pins 4 and 5 to make sure both earths are good, if that's ruled out the next logical move would be to test continuity between pin 7 and header C0286 where the link splits between the socket and all ECUs, this header is hidden in the loom so you'll have to remove that black insulation to reach it and concentrate to identify it well cos there are others too near it, it's the one with many pink wires, all of them must comunicate with pin 7 on the socket while the connector is plugged and unplugged it should be pin 15 or 16 depends on the modell
