Gee I had a truck I meet going to Upwey. You turn off the main road and there is a railway bridge you have to go under on the side road. HE stopped and wouldn't move. He started to reverse back and I was right behind him and other cars where behind me. I held the horn down, and still reversing. HE stop and got out looked at me as if I was in the wrong. Get to my window and tell me that he doesn't know how HIGH his truck is. So everyone had to reverse back on to a VERY BUSY main road with 2 lines of cars coming around a blind corner.
I told him he shouldn't be drive and that he has a ??? idot. Where do they get these guys. He was of Indian as well, just like the one in the clip. Heather

What a classic!
Top job that! Are they the original orange side decals or did you have to find some?

This is 39 years old and back then as I am aware the lines were painted on all of them and only 2 thin lines were a decal.
In this van the lines were painted in orange and the interior color scheme was orange as well.
At later stage someone painted lime green over the orange.
This how it was

Looks fantastic. We've got one of similar vintage that needs a bit of updating on the outside. Our front window guard for instance is a bit second hand. Where do you go about getting spare parts for something like this?

There are many places where you can get parts depending on the van.
Caravan Plus (http://caravansplus.com.au/catalog/index.php?osCsid=g8pijjp1baqircr5iu8u9u8fr7)is one of the sites
If you like start doing some renovation, come a join THIS (http://ditzygypsy.proboards.com/) forum which is very friendly and informative.
There are about 5 AULRO members active there.
There are many renovated or in the process of restoration there and some good videos with the work in progress or done.

Yeah, Arthur's being a right little over achiever over on the Classic Carvan Forum.:D My van still looks like crap and I've been at it for well over a year. This van has gone from zero to hero in a very short time - it looks like a cracker. :)
If you want to read about the whole build, then here it is - Gitano's Franklin Arrow | Classic Caravans (http://ditzygypsy.proboards.com/thread/3582/gitanos-franklin-arrow)

Apparently just what the Indian truck drivers do according to callers to Ray Hadley. they don't stop for anything. Apparently makes it very interesting for mechanics working on the trucks.

All you need is a 1977 Series to tow it with (or even a Kingswood would look the part) :)

I used to have a 10 seater 1978 109 stage 1 :)
Now I dream on a F100 or 150 with a Perkins engine on it
