Seeing we have some fishing action a fishing trip tale, all true.
Since Deb had her stroke we are fairly limited to where we can fish together. In Albany I usualy take her to the Kalgan river or the service warf at the town boat ramp.
We went to Albany for the AWEstralia day long weekend, the almanac predicted a couple of good days fishin:cool::cool::cool::cool::cool: I packed Debs flick rod,a 6 foot Jarvis Walker carbon fibre and my favorite rod,an Abu Garcia 6foot6 carbon fibre combo I won on a fishing website.
We went sunday, had our usual fishing comp.Catch and release all counted.I won 23 to 10,mainly skippy,a few trumperter and a couple of nice black bream. We both had a great time.
Went again monday, even better day in the almanac.Couldnt back the D4 as close to where we were fishing as there were plenty of cars and a fishing boat tied up.Hadnt been there long and I hooked something big, only had a paternostra rig with small hooks. What ever it was it was smoking me,was trying to help the drag by grabbing the spool. It bit the hook off, fortunately as I was down to the backing nylon under the braid.Reeled it in put a new rig on got a fat black bream straight away.Noticed the D4 was full of seagulls:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad: They went in chasing bait off the tailgate and found the latte I guess.I put the rod down on the concreate jetty, one of the hooks had 1 whole whitebait on it.As I was shifting the now seagull free D4 closer Deb started yelling out.A seagull grabbed the whitebait and the hook must of set,as it flew off with the rod, then dissapeared under the water with the rod:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
Only just dragged myself to look up the replacement cost this weekend, around $250 for the combo, plus the braid:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
I suggested we go to the chippy and buy $10 worth of chips, plus a kilo of bi-carb brom Coles and go feed seagulls on the foreshore.Deb told me that was not a very good idea.
