Anybody got a good recipe for ice coffee. I am after an easy, economical, good tasting concoction that I can make in three litre batches.

Yep. We got great ice coffee here in SA called Farmers Union Ice Coffee. Just jump in Land Rover of ur choice, drive for couple days to SA, go into shop and buy it in 3 litre bottle......enjoy. Then settle in SA to buy ice coffee whenever u want it. :D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Try Bickfords Iced Coffee Syrup is in my fridge. Coles and Woolies have it.

Well neither of you two are much help. :p
Rod, Farmers Union would rate at number four, nationally. Equal first is Ice Break (Queensland) and Territory's Own Iced Coffee(NT), next is Harvey Fresh Cappuccino (WA).
Ron, I hate chicory.
At present I buy 2 X 2 litre Ice Break, a day but at seven bucks a bottle it gets a bit expensive. I would like more flavour too.

Double shot of espresso (wood fired beans) over a few chunks of ice. Pour very cold milk over it. Consume. Doesn't get much better than that. Quick and easy and doable anywhere.

Yeah, I even have a poncy manual hand-pump espresso machine that goes touring with me. Errr... I've said too much, haven't I?

Now tell me why I live where I live... :D :D :D

And why I have to transport it to Adelaide with me whenever I visit my sons

However Ian, one enterprising son used to put into a blender

about half a litre of milk
2 scoops of ice cream
2 Tablespoons Moccona instant coffee
2 Tablespoons sugar
2 ice cubes

That would make two large glasses. HTH.

Haven't seen that one before Ron. Will track it down and give it a try. Bickfords have some good products - I've always got some of their ginger beer and lemon cordial base handy for a hot day. ;)

Mum used to make up 2lt jugs many years ago.
She used the International Roast coffee,,,, because it mixed well. I guess these days your favourite blend could just be whisked with a whizbang dovahicky thingy.
She mixed a couple of table spoons with a bit of water then some ice, more water I guess maybe half-ish, then milk. Back then it was full cream milk, but I guess you could adjust that depending on what milk you want to use.

Always tasted great when she made it, quite refreshing on a stinking hot day. Probably the closest drink to hers these days is the Ice Break

Coffee house/Cappucino machine or similar.

Order a flat white, single/double-shot to taste... then ask them to add COLD, full-cream (?) milk... ie, don't bother to heat/froth/abuse it.

Add some ice blocks if you're that way inclined...

Real COFFEE,
Real Milk, and
Real Ice if you prefer.
Quick and easy for them too.

One of my regular haunts makes up batches, bottles and refrigerates them Very Cold, - cold enough to have without their optional ice-blocks.

- You just gotta train your vendors...

My parents come round every Sunday to spend time with my kids. They do espressos on the stove top and leave me a shot in a small cup. I usually put it in the fridge overnight and drink it Monday morning in one gulp.

Delicious.

Triple espresso with very good just roasted beans. Buy one if you cannot make one- cold is no problem. Crushed Ice, Table spoon of vanilla ice cream, small table spoon of Agave syrup or a tea spoons of sugar. A fresh little grated nutmeg in a very tall glass- fill with milk of course.

I skip the table spoon of Agave syrup or 2 tea spoons of sugar myself. Just had one- yum I am not a whipped cream fan but knock your self out if you do

Farmers union outsell coke in SA so they can't be too far off. Bickfords make the essence for F U and now sell it. You can get straight coffee essence from them. I have tried a lot of others that I think pale in comparrason but for instance in east timor in 2000 all I could get when we did get to Dili was Pauls iced coffee- frozen solid at $4 a carton which was waaay over the normal price but I still paid up. And sweated off on it thawing out..

When the minister for war and fianance came to darwin for my 2day trip back she brought a couple big FU iced coffees- god I love that woman. Use the bickfords, its the percentage mix you change to your taste and once you not it you'll love it...

Asfor the comment on keeping an eye on your weight? Well any medical professional or optomitrist will tell you its easier to see a larger object than a small or thin one... therefore if you are `larger` its easier to keep an -eye on your weight!

add a (heaped:cool:) teaspoon of your preferred dried coffee to a small cup, add boiled water, stir.
add 370mls of cold milk and two big spoons worth of ice cream to a jug.
add coffee to jug and mix with electronic kitchen appliance until smooth.
add 3-4 icecubes to schooner glass,
pour addictive substance into glass.

Enjoy!

Mrs Pedro made me one tonight,,,
I said "whats that?"
"iced coffee " came the reply
" its very nice, when did you learn to make them?"
"oh! I've known for ever"
" then how come its taken you 17 years of wedded bliss to make me one?"
"umm,,,"

Tried that. The electronic kitchen appliance didn't mix it too well.
It just went "Fffzzzztttt" and then the computer died.
I guess it was because I had to use a bucket. The toaster wouldn't fit in the jug.

The best supermarket iced coffee I've ever had was in Japan, called BOSS. No sugar, no artificial flavours, just refreshing cold coffee in a can. For some reason, every producer in Australia insists that we need 10+ teaspoons of sugar and a sickly ice cream sundae flavour

If I'm making my own though, I just brew a pot of percolated black coffee using freshly ground beans and throw the lot in the fridge overnight. Cold black coffee is delicious :D

So I asked for a latte, but with cold, non-frothed milk.
I was met with a look that made me think I'd suddenly sprouted a second head!

The girl then passed the order over to the barista who came over to me to double check and question what I wanted, so I simply had to spell it out again as an espresso shot and add cold milk. And a couple of ice cubes if you've got any.

Paul's Blended Milk. Those were the days - although you did get real milk in the milkshake at the Noonamah roadhouse then. :D

Late 80s Malanda milk was trucked in and then Rowlands started the dairy in Katherine using (evaporative) air conditioned sheds. That closed around the end of the 90s and now with a railway line it is all 'trucked' in as you say.
