when I have my beard I do.

assuming wd40, used 15/40 80/90 ATF, grease, brake fluid, Texaco 90, catrol VMX, penrite 20/50, nulon synthetic, 0-30 5-40 and 10-50 count as beard oil. Shampoo is what I use to stop the beard oil getting on the pillow cases.

Back when we had men 'O war men they used to grease their queue, (pigtails to you and me,) had a special shipboard mate to do this ritual.
I used to work with a Scandinavian fellow who oiled his queue, it reached his bum:o er, the pigtail not the oil.

Every time I have my beard trimmed its oiled.
its handy for sneak attacks:angel:

The reason for the "collar" on the traditional juniors sailor's ceremonial uniforms.

In the day of Nelson, lower deck seamen did not have an official uniform. Only those regarded as gentlemen , ie Officers, Sailing masters , Warrant Officers, and that ilk, wore a recognisable uniform. And that uniform evolved over time. The reason sailors were called " jolly jack tars" is their long hair was covered in tar, so the long hair was not a safety issue in the rigging. Tar was available because it was used to caulk the seams of the ship.

I just use a bit of my shampoo and conditioner on my beard. Why oil it? Are there advantages?

Depends on how cold or hot the weather is. Also on how large the gaps are between the hairs in your beard.

generally I find its most useful come assembly time, twist the threads into the whiskers real quick and the bolt is lubed ready for installation.

it also stops brats chewing gum and other adhesive goops from sticking to it.

How about fish oil - would that work? Or lanolin from sheep?
