Hi All,
I had a look under my Perentie the other day and noticed that the uni joint for my winch PTO had gone missing. Any one know how easy it is to get a replacement? Finding part numbers etc are not my strong point. Any help would be much appreciated. Image below for reference.
Regards Warrick.

Hi Warwick, I will post up the part number tomorrow night if no one posts it earlier. I am away from home until about 8pm tomorrow. Check your gearbox mounts. You may have a bit too much flex there under load.

Thanks Bearman. That would be much appreciated. I will check the gearbox mounts today. I have been driving on a lot of rough roads recently so definitely a symptom of vibration I would imagine.

You can find similar joints in the Blackwoods catalogue. Or salvage one from your local wrecker, the joints on any Thomas winch on a Series LR, Toyota Land Cruiser, Nissan Patrol will fit as will the joints off the Bamford winches on Army Series III Landys.

AYG8588 is the land rover part you need Warwick. If you lived a bit closer I could loan you one to take into a place that could find a replacement one. They are a pretty common item.

Hi Warwick,
Exact same thing happened to my 120 ute. Couplings are Hardy Spicer, 3/4" bore with 3/16 keyway. Part No.s are:
Slip Yoke (ie long one): 10-3-13X
End Yoke: 10-4-13
UJ: 5-170X
You'll also need an appropriate grub screw and grease nipple which don't come with the couplings. I bought everything from a local Canberra bearing place (who were able to source it from HS overnight) for about $200 and fitted it yesterday.
And just FYI, I did try to buy it from Hardy Spicer direct when I was in Sydney. They didn't have the slip yoke on the shelf and they guy I was dealing with was adamant it was a splined yoke. Admittedly the catalogue is a little confusing but I can assure you 10-3-13X is the correct one; ie plain bore with keyway.
Cheers
Simon

When I had to replace one of my winch drive shaft joints, I went to Hardie Spicer in Dandenong. The original fitment assembly was no longer available but the current replacement assembly is a few mm's wider but fits with room to spare.
If you cant find one, let me know and I will try and find the current Hardie part number.

Thanks Simon and Ian for your help. I am glad to hear that the parts are not to hard to obtain. I will get onto sourcing them next week. Hopefully I can find a good agent for Hardy Spicer in WA to get them in for me. Really appreciate everyone's help on this one for me.
Regards Warrick.

Hi Hardy Spicer 49 Banksia Rd Welshpool Perth 92586300
Ordered it yesterday from them. Really good customer service and very knowledgeable. All up the parts came in at around $170. Should be good to pick up next week as the slip yoke has to come from the East Coast. Will post some images once I have it fitted.
Thanks everyone for your help. I used the part numbers supplied Simon and found out that Hardie Spicer is the go to company for uni joints. What a great resource AULRO is!!! Thank you to all the passionate Land Rover owners out there who are willing to help fellow enthusiasts.
Regards Warrick.

Hi all, I have recently been through this setting up my PTO winch on my 109 from scratch.
I made the setup to fit a thomas T8000 winch from a perentie.
I purchased parts from driveline services australia, they were very helpful. Contact Us | Driveline (http://www.driveline.com.au/contact-us)
Parts are imperial specification.
Yokes: 3/4" shaft with 3/16" keyway (I was supplied neapco brand at about $35 each) part number 10.4.13 (neapco 10-0413)
UJ's: 5.170X (5-170X) about $35ea also
I Got a greasable 'pillow block bearing' from RS spares au, it was cheap, there are similar items on ebay etc.
I had the shafts made locally at a fitter and turners workshop.
