I was asked the question today that I couldn't aswer "how many Deefers had been sold in total in Australia?" - I guess you'd have to include the County as well.
Anyone have any idea?

Good question , The Defense Force would have been the biggest customers , Land Rover never sold large volumes in Oz . I think because they made them for so many years , and many are still running around . There would be quite a few thousand . !!.. Jim :)

I would be interested in finding out how many there are in New Zealand as the production has now come to an end I've seen loads more on the roads over here.

Also in particular how many 130's as I've not seen one yet here.

I suppose that i'd have to contact Land Rover NZ in my case to find out the official numbers maybe but then i guess that wouldn't count all the ones imported by the private owner...??

Didge, for most of us reading the Defender parts of the forum, the answer is not enough.....
If you're an interloper admin called Terry from the Discovery (in reality, basically discount Range Rovers) part of the forum, there was obviously too many sold here in Australia...

Mike.

I was just down that way only a week ago didn't spot any 130's but saw loads of 90's and 110's. I'm going to hazard a guess that theres more defenders on the South Island than the North.......:D:D

Two days and still no answer Didge?
Looks as though I might have to do my own research.

Not at all, always regretted not buying Inc's last County, but the better half said no and in over fifteen years of being together the only times she has ever said no to one of my bright ideas on another Land Rover is when I have discussed buying a Fender or County. ...

Yes he has a healthy and zealous disregard for the Defenders of the Realm :)

You're doing it wrong - you need to focus on forgiveness, not permission [emoji14]

Haha - Terry that looks like an edited post. Hehe. My missus won't ride in mine, unless there's no alternative although on a recent trip back to Sydney from Port Macquarie (5 hours at speed limits - 5.5hours in the Defender) she remarked how surprisingly comfortable (in not noisy) the trip was. Mmhh, perhaps there's the possibility of an upgrade to a later model (if they don't become collectors items). :)
