View Full Version : Horn toots twice after locking - why?

George has started tooting his horn twice after locking and I can't figure out why.
It happened about the time I had to put him on the charger because the battery was low after not being started for three weeks. However, after charging, everything is apparently working fine except the horn is tooting, so I'm not sure if that was related.
The doors and bonnet are all shut and all locking.
The light on the dash indicates the alarm is working.
Everything else seems to be working normally.
I read the manual, but couldn't find anything to indicate why the horn would toot twice after locking.
Any ideas?

One of your door switches is not playing the game.

Thanks, I thought of that, but they're all playing the game, I think. The doors were all locked when I checked last night. Will double check this arvo.
One of the door switches was faulty and would not unlock, but it was fixed. Turned out to be a pinched wire in the grommet between the door and body. Hope it hasn't broken again.

All 5 doors and the bonnet locked?
All 6 switches working okay?

This.
5 minutes with a screwdriver to check the connections on the back of the door switches, and you'll know if you need to dig deeper.
By the looks of the wiring diagram they just switch to earth... so if the earth is bad, then no bueno.

It's probably one of the second row doors, easiest way to check, (afaik), is to open each door and confirm the interior lights come on.
Cheers,

Now you mention it I did notice the rear interior light not come on when I opened the rear d?or, but it still switches on manually, so maybe its the connection from the rear door. Will check it out this week when I get home. Thanks for the tip.

Another thing to check is that the bracket holding the bonnet switch isn't bent down slightly stopping the switch from working correctly.

Thanks. Hadn't thought of that. Will check it tonight.
However, that doesn't explain why the interior lights don't come on when the rear door is opened, but work off the other doors.
