Hi there fellow AULRO'ians and Landy Lovers,

Here at British Car Components WE SERVE many local workshops and trade businesses across Melbourne (and in fact the entire country). We also SERVE many happy and loyal DIY customers who have been sourcing their British parts from us for decades.

NOW (FINALLY) the best kept little parts secret in Australia is ready to get REAL with AULRO members!

Just so you "get it", we are a REAL Spare Parts store located just 10 min's from the Melbourne CBD in North Melbourne. We keep REAL stock inventory on hand so you can purchase from us SAME DAY. You can choose to Pick Up or have us Express Post your purchases Australia wide the SAME DAY (or whenever you like).

We source quality Genuine, OEM and Reproduction parts from the exact same suppliers all the others do... we just do it better!

Without wanting to offend others, you can be confident, we are not just "order forwarders" working out of a tin shed in the bush, we are a REAL business. We have REAL people employed to help and/or assist you!!! We have been around for 35+ years and as such offer FULL warranty and return services as you should be able to expect from any REAL parts business.

You are welcome to drop in for a REAL coffee, use our REAL LR Catalogues and/or part finding Computer Systems to help locate the exact part you are after "on-screen". Doing this reduces risk of error for DIY'ers. You are welcome to check and view your purchase(s) before paying, and if you aren't local... you can order over the phone Monday-Saturday or via eBay (if you really must waste your evening couch time!) anytime... or any day... that you like.

REMEMBER... We have been selling Landy gear for 35+ years. We are here because we do it well. We are not an Uber style "disruption economics" business - faking out the market to grab a foot hold and then ignoring the customers needs once we get big enough. And we are not an eBay only entity "picking the low hanging fruit" from the market... we are a REAL, "OLD FASHIONED" PARTS STORE covering all the bases - old and new.

Are you ready to GET REAL with parts again? CALL US and compare our prices. We are in line with the "e.crowd" and are ready to help you GET IT!!!

AULRO members receive DEALER level pricing on their first order. Just send a friend request and give us a call!

Hoo Roo and best regards,

Dave and Graeme

No worries Mick - we do it all. :D

Just looking at where I put this, I maybe should have posted in the Verandah? Happy for it to move if it's a better fit - supposed to be there.

:) Dave

So if I ring you'll give me the actual parts I require and not guess at what I write in a e'mail?
When on the phone can I get an ETA on the goods and a price either then and there or get a call back?

Sorry for the questions but I don't see what has changed.
I've always rang and never had problems with the level of personal service.
I always get the right parts and of the quality I require.
Keep doing what your doing, it works for me and many I know.

G'day Alien,

You can trust all is good here and BCC is pretty much the same business you have enjoyed using for decades. We believe that we are an ?untapped resource? within parts of the LR community (like AULRO) and simply want to be a bit more than "The best kept little parts secret" in Melbourne.

As you know, my family and I have enjoyed a lot of forum help and fun over the years, and just about every day we now also send customers to AULRO for enthusiast advice and DIY help. That is a good part of why we put up our thread with notice of a special offer to all AULRO'ians... so that anyone can "friend" us here and receive an intro bargain (at better than eBay prices). We also welcome forumites to call, email, ebay message, AULRO PM, or drop in if they want to check their purchases (or us!) out.

To allay your concerns and correct some fictions that seem to have been sadly ?angled? our way, see below. It can be a bit off-centre, but we know what sort of competition is around both here and in the REAL world, so we will just get on with business and show people what we are good for.

Hoo Roo,

Dave

? DABBLING: Instead of "dabbling", WE SERVE our customers with Land Rover, Jaguar, Rover, MG, Triumph, and as much as we can of virtually all the older British brands. As you know, we do LR particularly well. In fact, LR is the largest part of our business... in saying that, we have both the skills and capacity to do more, so we always will. For example, we recently teamed up with a couple of excellent local workshops to provide a LR Service and Repair offering using quality parts at BCC trade prices.

? STARTING FROM SCRATCH - WALK IN: As advised here on AULRO at the time, early last year I purchased BCC as a going concern from Graeme. Having spent 35 years? successful years at the helm, Graeme wanted to wind down. The timing was perfect as I had just finished a decade of ?home duties?. A deal was negotiated and agreed? and we will continue to both work together for as long as Graeme is happy to come to work. My 20 years of experience with a major retailer works in well with Graeme's 35 years of British parts experience and both are now giving the business the best shot at continued success moving forward. No doubt, my apprenticeship will keep going, but I have THE Master (I call him GURU!) by my side to help smooth the way.

? WORKING WHEN OTHERS ARE CLOSED. It is a fact that since BCC began we have been serving our customers and our communities with continuous 12-14 hour workdays. Working late nights and across weekends is not uncommon for us and it is certainly not the sole domain of just a few AULRO vendors. We all know there are a ton of good people out there doing Landy stuff (both on eBay and in stores) around the clock as best they can. As most do, we have continually gone the extra mile for our customers. In the first nine months here at BCC, we have even been out, hired trailers, and brought mates/customers broken cars back from the bush. We have delivered parts to AULRO drive days and meets for mates/customers (many times) and we are also open to the public 5 and ? days each week. FWIW, in my community I also make a little time to help out my local Scout Group with Hall Hire and assist the local Auskick crew at our Junior Football Club. I even stole a few days off to donate a kidney last year!

? PRICING, OVERHEADS (PAYING FOR RENT WAGES, INSURANCES, SERVICES, ETC). We love the fact that we pay rent. We consistently do this at a rate of around 10-15% of sales. I find it interesting to note, that our rent is usually close to the same % we pay eBay in sales commissions for using their market (I now often think of eBay as our "Virtual Landlords"). We are also very proud to employ people at the shop and elsewhere to help us with our business. We support local and national companies: couriers, accountants, caf's, and supermarkets. We also support many, many, many small, medium and large suppliers across the country. It is great to know that our work helps both our customers AND our entire Aussie community. We don't just ship commission $'s off shore to a monster multi-national or slide them into our own accounts. We are loyal to our REAL STORE roots but adaptive to our customer's desire to trade in other market(s). And guess what? We compete across all these markets at (and often below) competitors eBay pricing levels.

? WE MAN PHONES. YES!!! In fact, we man two land lines and two mobiles! We also have answering machines and voicemail services. We man a sales desk, an eMail account, an eBay account, and a Mail out service using Aussie Post. Heck, we even still have a frequently used FAX facility. We also use the forum's PM facility. Oh yeah, and we are now posting on Facebook, Instagram and even trying out Pinterest. All this simply because we want to share and grow 'the best kept little secret in parts? and we are not afraid to have a go. We want customers to use whatever channel/format they feel comfortable with to enquire, interact, communicate, quote, order, stalk, or simply watch us. The phrase is a little over used, but well? we are open for business.

REMEMBER? IF YOU CAN USE A PHONE AND FIND A VOICE?

Bit of a long story but I found myself in North Melbourne today, so I popped in to see Graeme and Dave to go through the catalogues to order some Perentie bits.
We perused the catalogues over a coffee. I must say, it was very civilised.

Thanks for the nice words Mick. And we were both happy to see your smiling face again!!!

Like a whole lot of AULRO Vendors out there, we do our best to meet our customers needs every day. It's no big deal really... at BCC we are just keen to offer as many niceties as possible and to actively compete in whichever format customers choose to shop.

With out wanting to sound self important, we honestly do hope REAL parts stores continue to stay on peoples shopping "radars"... the "catching up" is something both Graeme and I really enjoy. And those extra niceties like having a coffee and looking through the cat's together just aren't the same over the internet!
