Hi guys just purchased a 2002 Disco 2 and loving it so far. Keen to start the cosmetic modifications such as a full length roof rack, rear ladder and rock slides/side steps.
Where does everyone purchase their parts new or used. Obviously want quality but stuff is expensive nowadays so any good sites out there ?

For run of the mill stuff that is hard to get wrong, I go on line. Mind you, I've got some of those bits wrong. Anyone want to swap a 3 tab fuel cap for a two tab fuel cap?
For things that have to be right, I like standing face to face with the vendor and making sure he understands what I want. If he makes a mistake, it's not my problem.
A few years ago I needed a new ignition switch for the hybrid. I bought one on line from GarryCLR. He sent me exactly what I ordered, no complaint there. It wasn't quite right and I managed to fit it. Three weeks it lasted. A rather noticeable failure on a AULRO trip which resulted in a corner being named after me. I then paid a visit to Graeme at BCC and went through the books and found the right ignition switch.
Bear in mind, my Landrovers are difficult to determine and source parts. I can't give a VIN and the vendor look it up. I mean, what ignition switch is in a Series 3 Stage 1 100"?

Have never had an issue with Roverlord, and I buy everything from them.
Land Rover items - Get great deals on Engine Parts, Gear Box and Auto Transmission items on eBay Stores! (http://stores.ebay.com.au/Roverlord-Offroad-Spares)
He has many more parts than listed on Ebay. So you can always contact him through AULRO to ask if he can get you something.

Hi Mowy, try Tickle Discovery Automotive in Wangara. I've dealt with them a few times and can't complain. They have a website with part listing and such but also have much much more instore which is not listed :)

Ok, what about when you want to do a mod and you want an indipendent to do it,for example let's say an Ashcroft diff. Is it bad etiquette to buy it and hand it over to the installer.
Going OT, so apologies

No. With the Mercs, I usually hand parts to the mechanic. He doesn't have to spend the time ordering them in.

My First Land Rover, and I did some looking at who was selling what, went with Landybitz, very helpful and went that extra mile with the whole fitting process, more than I can say for the dealer.
So will be going back for more...
