I want to fit a dual battery system .....original battery , optima yellow top and traxide kit ..........I have removed the original battery ..and want to turn it round to go latitudinal ......so that I can fit the optima alongside it ..but the original battery has its own securing tray ......this has strange nut heads that do not appear to be designed for removal from the top

Question ........do I need to remove this .......I'm not yet sure how I'm going to secure the two batteries in place .......I know there is a dual tray for defender ....but it seems pricey for a bit of metal ........any suggestions ....comments appreciated .......I found some posts here on fitting the optima .....but nothing on the original tray and how to deal with it...................photo of the existing battery tray attached

Hi Landoman,

climb underneath the vehicle, directly underneath the battery location, and you will see a 'plastic' cover. When you remove this cover, you will have access to the four nuts which will allow you to remove the tray.

Due to the shape of the floor, not sure how you will be able to reuse the original tray in a different position.

I sourced a dual battery tray from devon4x4 in the UK - however it is designed for two optima/oddessy batteries. It does not support the factory battery.

I also installed Tim's USI-160 - fantastic bit of kit.

cheers.

Excellent .....thanks for that .....suspected that might be the case ...just did not want to escalate the dismantling ..........nothing on a Landrover is ever straight forward ......got an idea that might work once I get the origiapnal tray out

Have ordered traxide kit .....used before on an other vehicle and it totally reliable .....so want to stick to what I know works
