Ok so Hank is a lovely Epsom Green, and when I get all the old crazing clear vinyl protective wrap off I am going to add wing top, rear quarter and probably center bonnet checkerplate.
My previous Defer's were white and silver was the only colour back then for checkerplate, but given the dark body colour and the really dark tinted glass, black bar and roof rack do I go full "gangster" and run black checkerplate or go contrast and get the silver?
Oh and it's currently got black dynamic rims, but will probably be changing to Wolf's or D1 steelies in either black or silver.
Anyone got pics of their Epsom Green Defers with black or silver on them?

Looks good either way! :>)
Your sunshade seems to be letting the sun through, not keeping it off! Amazing!

I go for practical over fashion. On my 109, i had silver - was a pain when the sun shone on it. So now my D90 and 88" have black... The D90 is keswick green, so it looks super cool with black! :D the down side is it gets hot and when you stand on it with no shoes in the middle of the day in summer it burns! OUCH! but u get that haha

I've got a pair in Silver , that I haven't fitted yet . I think black would look better , on my Keswick green , I just haven't seen either fitted to help make a decision . I can understand them getting hot in mat black , also being reflective in silver . I just don't get to see many Keswick green Defenders. Jim..

The plates I had on the series I painted with a rattle can (tried a brush - dont do it!) but these were black powedercoated ones:

Like I said, Mine are there to be walked on, not just to look cool. If I wasn't walking on the bonnet I wouldn't have gotten them at all.
Hope this helps the original poster as well.

Hi Debruiser,
I see that we are neighbors, both in Mackay and I believe it was your 90 I saw in the Holy Spirit carpark today.
Whereabouts is the track in this pic, we haven't been out much in the local area, have joined the Mackay 4wd club but yet to do a trip after being members for over 6 months:(

So who are suppliers of checkerplate these days?
And is a foam gasket necessary?
Is there any that are better than others or are they all pretty much the same.

I'd get black, will look great with the dark green.
Juddy on this forum sells Patriot Chequer Plate. Top quality, fits nicely and comes with the foam gasket if you want. Chequer Plate (http://www.landybitz.com.au/index.php/using-joomla/extensions/components/contact-component/contact-categories/35-shop-site)

I won't be getting any but I'd have black if I was. That would work well with cores grey. I wouldn't mind some for the quarters though They're starting to get a bit crinkled.
