This is one of those times when the concept and execution is excellent but the need needs questioning..

Reduction in labor intensity leads to reduction in workforce requirements leads to workforce reductions. Theres how many people in those sort of countries that are not employed as is?

yes not using the machine might lead to a lack of reduction in the price of a bag of rice but thats not a big issue because

everyone seems to be quite happy paying the current price of rice grown with the current methods,
Odds are the minor reduction in production cost are unlikely to be passed on due to middle managers and accountants being happy with the sales rates at the current prices
theres enough "frivolous" money spending going on that tapering a tiny part of a small fraction of it would more than amply offset the cost change.
