2015 defender with 20,000ks.Serviced at 10,000 & at 20,000.Dealer told me clunking noise in rear diff at last service.Said diff is stuffed needs to be repaired question not very good for a vehicle that's new and low klms.Reply it's normal for a defender. The repair is under warranty but have to get permission from landrover in england to do repair. Is this normal for a diff to fail and what about the front could that be next? Also does England landrover have to approve warranty repairs. Can not see many threads about diff failures at low klms is this really normal.

It can happen. There were some diffs early in the puma that were incorrectly setup. I thought that had been sorted in the later models. Still it is not impossible, just thank that this is happening while in the warranty period.

Can you describe the "clunk" in more detail please?
Ive had 3 rear diffs, 2 gearboxes, rear tailshaft, front prop shaft and clutch all changed because of what was essentially an issue with the flanges, the rear flanges to be exact.
You see worn flanges will cause a lot of backlash or "clunking".
Check for movement in rear tailshaft also.

It's funny how modern factory trained ''Technicians'' can only fix something if the computer is connected to it. Pat

And flogged out drive flanges have been a problem for how long:rolleyes:.
Surely after all this time a LR tech would know where to look first.
