hazard lights for old landys

Gooday folks, just wondering how hard or easy it may be to install 'Hazard lights' on a series 3 landy. Could I scavenge parts from a wreckers maybe? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Cheers.

Um, aren't hazard lights just indicators that all go on and off at once?

I'd guess that all you need is a switch for the dash and a flasher dingus - of course I can't remember the name of the thing - to put into the circuit.

Last you need a red permanent texta to draw the triangle near the switch.

There used to be a Hazard Light Kit in the Hella Light range, If you check with Repco or Supercheap they should be able to help, there may be one in the Narva range also, There were 2 Hella kits for 12volts, they are Part Numbers 5225 and 5227 they had switch,mounting bracket,wire, & diagram, they should still available :)[/img]

Howdy:
Up near the ordinary indicator stalk, you need to splice (Not cut !) and wire a dual pole single throw (on/off left side, on/off right side) switch from the L & R indicator wires- Green/white stripe, and green/red stripe, and the main power input Lightgreen/brown. On one side of the switch, wire the respective wires on each side, and on the other side, cross connect the Lt green/bwn across both terminals. The idea is that you are bypassing the indicator stalk and activating both sides at once. The blinker can will still work (although you might want an aftermarket electronic version) and the dual pole switch in the off position lets the indicator stalk work as usual.

Has anyone fitted hazzard (emergency) lights to their Series III? Considering mine breaks down so often, I thought I should add a hazzard lights switch to mine. I've been given a quote of in excess of $550 to fit the switch which seems a bit rich? I would have thought the exercise invloves fitting a relay and a dashboard switch (using universal parts) given that the car has working indicator lights? Am I missing something?

Grab the switch and flasher can from a 2 door or early 4 door rangie.

The only real problem is that you have to cut the power feed to the normal relay and tap into both sides of the original harness. Please don't use scotch loks.

Thank you for this - it was simple to do and workks well. An auto electrician wanted to charge me $550 to put them in my Series III. It ended up costing me $6.95!

Was wondering if anybody has a wiring diagram to install hazzard lights to a series 3 .i realy want then fitted as the wife drives it a fair bit. i cant seem to find any on here so some 1 mite have one laying around..:eek:
