Hello all .
I watched this item run through the recent frontline auction .
My question is about the frame the transmission sits in .
Is this a lifting accessory for installing the transmission or is it just for transport and storage . Almost all boxes ive seen go through the auctions to date have been in a wooden crate . This is the first like this ive seen .
Thanks .

no, thats a transport frame,

the install bracket goes on the top of the box and looks like an inverted U shape about 2/3ds over to one side.

Worth mentioning this box sold for near $1600 . Must be a new old stock or something . All others are selling between 300-500 .

Judging by appearance only it appears to be a refurbished box. Good value at that price if it is. The TRB shaft alone is worth more than that, then there's the PTO unit and rear axle drive unit as well!!

What is the TRB shaft ?

TRB = Tapered roller bearing intermediate shaft in the transfer case. Only the army boxes have it.

Not quite Brian. It was also done to Civvy Landies ( I had two over the years) as an aftermarket conversion. I forget who did them though, some Sydney mob from ( vague) memory.
I think they were sold as 101 gearbox units.

That's the Ritter type one David. Not as good as the military type one and I don't know whether parts are available for them any more. I do have a 101 box here that has one in it.
