G'Day Gents,
Does anyone know the distance from the outside of the hub wheel flange to to same point on the other hub wheel flange, across a diff?
I am putting together a trailer, and thought it would be best to use the same rims and track as my Defender. Especially as it will be towing it.
Thanks in advance. :)
Cheers,
Phill.

Search under my user name.........pretty sure the measurement is correct.
I'm guessing you won't be using defender stubs, guns and disc like I did......I ended up with a slightly wider wheel track as I used disco hubs which I believe are slightly different to defender.

Hi Phil
I just bumped and old thread of mine.....
Hopefully somebody can post in here as well to confirm my measurement was correct.

Can't easily search on my phone, but there is a thread started by Rijidij on county disk brake conversions. Pretty sure the dimension you are after was posted in that as there was a bit of discussion about track change.

Thanks Gents. :)
I will track down the info tonight. I hope. :)
The track changes with your rim offset, so it is something to be wary of.
On the last camping trailer I had, I had Series hubs and stubs to match. Along with series front springs and shocks.
With this one, I don't have the dimensions at hand. Lost over the years. But I am looking at using a STD 50mm sq axle, with heavy duty trailer hubs with blank flanges and 12" electric brakes.
As it needs to be a universal trailer, I need to be able to load it up.
Maybe it will be easier to get LR hubs... And a custom axle.
Cheers,
Phill.

G'Day Kevin,
Your post of
"ventured out to the car this afternoon to confirm measurements, not so easy as the stubs are covered by the hub
i ended up taking both rear wheel off and measured outside hub to hub 1552mm
steve's 1386mm flange to flange i am hoping is correct as i wasn't going to remove the hubs, it looks about right"
I assume is the dimension you are referring to. Now please correct me, but I am just checking that that is the distance from outside of wheel stud flange to the same on the other side of the diff. Where the rims bolt up against.
I can't be bothered going down the path of a a full set of spares on the trailer. I did that last time.... And never used them. Not even close. And the extra weight of the full spares set up just wasn't worth it. This time I want to use a commercial axle and hubs, with 12" electric drums.
I can't be bothered stuffing around machining everything up this time to fit the brakes properly. Maybe if I make another camper one day.
I will have a look for Steve's thread on Thursday night, jut to see what that says.
Cheers,
Phill.
