Motocross Goggles

Hello All,

Can anyone recommend a quality brand of motocross goggles that filters out dust?

Apparently I have developed an allergy to mowing long grass and it stops me wearing the rigid gas permeable contact lenses that I am dependent upon seeing with.

I used to have a set of motocross goggles years ago and I cannot remember the brand. I do remember that each hole in the googles' frame did have a section of foam that covered it up and the foam acted as a rudimentary filter.

Can anyone recommend a current brand that will stop the dust and grass related detritus from irritating my eyes when I mow my paddocks?

Have you considered Wiley-X sunnies?

When I had a detached retina and the lens in my eye was removed, I was aphakic for 6 months. During that time I wore a special contact lens. I found when riding my motorbike, the lens would get pushed to the top of the eye by air pressure (it's a bit of a cow to get it back!).

Unfortunately, they are expensive.

These (http://www.torpedo7.com.au/products/6TGOMN4ES/title/thor--enemy-solid-goggle) are very good value, unfortunately shipping is $9.90 and they were on special last week for $25.00. Most good goggles are $50 or more these days.

If you find you are still getting a bit of dust through, oil the foam (around the lens not the foam that seals to your face) with baby oil and wash it out when you finish mowing. You could also try olive oil.

Thank you for the link. Not as expensive as my last ditch resort which is a full face respirator with a positive air feed. I used them before when I was in Parks & Gardens spraying pesticides. Unfortunately, they were supplied by the employer and had to stay behind when I left for pastures green!

My BIL has a pair of safety glasses that look a lot like the old aviation / racing goggles with foam edging to keep dust out. From what he said they are not that expensive - he wears them with his open faced helmet. I do not have a clue where he got them from but I would check out a safety place or even an industrial supplier like BOC.
