My armoured vehicle club is again involved in the Lithgow Ironfest in a few weeks time, this year a group of German WWII re-enactors are joining in and we need to get an OT-810 (German halftrack) from North Brisbane to Lithgow and return. 14th to 18th April.

Either looking for a heavy tilt tray or beavertail truck and driver or a truck for rental/hire where we will fly up a driver.

The OT-810 is: Length 6m
Width 2m
Height 1.75m
Weight 8 tonnes.
The driver would be welcome to camp over the weekend with AAVA share meals and enjoy the companionship and entertainment (including scenarios with blank firing weapons and pyrotechnics).

if you still want a driver and can get a hire I'll raise my hand, to steer for you if its needed. If we go hire we'll have to fly someone up if we don't have anyone locally in Brissy.

As for the costs we have a couple or three thousand dollars available no problem but much more than that starts getting awkward and will reduce the number of vehicles we can take up from Sydney. We had a lead on a prime/mover float on club plates from Brissy, but traveling so far would require fitting a few new tyres and make it nonviable. We are recognised club for club plates in NSW and can invite a truck/club on Qld club plates for the task and as long as we don't "pay for the truck" we can compensate the owner for fuel and other running costs as well and feed and accommodate the driver without breaching the rules.

To wet the taste buds, the vehicles we are taking up are: WWII M3 Stuart tank, WWII M5 halftrack, WWII LP2a universal carrier, FV703 Ferrets, FV432 APC, FV601 Saladin, FV603 Saracen and the only operational FV722 Vixen in the World. As well as the OT-810 (Sd,kfz.251 German halftrack) from Brissy.

No worries Carolyn, you and Harry have already been very helpful in trying to find a likely lad! :)

It's regular carrier has offered to do the job for $4,500 but that will mean the probable loss of 3 vehicles going up from Sydney.

Down, brisbane is down from katherine....With the tilt of the earth's axis Katherine may almost be across from Brissy! :D :D

Which ever way it goes, if we need a self drive with no Brissy driver available, airfares will have to be paid from somewhere.

Paying the airfare from Katherine for a Recce Mech may turn out preferable to a novice from Sydney.

Honestly give freightseek ago it costs nothing to join the carrier`s pay a percentage for getting the job to freightseek . You get company`s of all discription`s quoting .
Some for backloading or others looking for work .
Most will have insurance thats for you to work on .

You should end up with some help full quotes:cool:I contacted another similar mob and they rang back within a few minutes to find out more details of the job so they could put it out to the individual operators.

Also the freightSeek mob's website doesn't give you the option a return contract. You have to enter it as two separate jobs.

For this job, with food, accommodation, good stories and good folk already on the table throw in maybe the chance for a sneaky drive or two to sweeten the pot and an offer for to/from the airport..

I reckon I can find tiger/virgin airfares in my back pocket. If I can line up my little fella coming and rides for him as well then I can guarantee I'll get there to twist axles for you.

let me know when you want to talk log.

dont forget if you do a hire job you will need to look at tie down gear and Id suggest that in any case make sure the owners have some old tubes from cars/tractors ready to cut up to protect the vehicles paint work, and zipties.. lots of zipties.

The excess baggage for bringing up chains and dogs is scary. :o (Even if you could carry them to the check-in)

No not the pugs.
