Hey all, this is my first posting relating to my first Land Rover so here goes;
I bought the Discovery Series 2, 2003 TD5 Auto with 135km, one owner and it shows, despite the driver's window breaking in the first 10 minutes.
However today some things developed that have me confused and very concerned;
As I returned to the car after picking up the kids from school, the brake lights were on? I thought I had left the car unlocked or something sinister, but No. The car was locked.
I opened the driver's door and pumped the pedal, thinking it was the switch but still they remained on? I put the key into ignition and turned it on, the warning lights did their thing then all but two went out.
The W and S flashed?
I turned off the ignition and closed the door. I couldn't figure out what was going on. I locked the truck and then unlocked it again. I turned the ignition on and the lights cleared, all of them this time.
I then went to the back of the truck and the brake lights were still on. I decided to drive home.
No issues driving home and then I parked the truck in the drive. I locked it and went to the rear, the lights were out?
So after exploring these forums I've got the following things that could be an issue;
Low battery: Battery was replaced 6 months ago.
Brake Light Switch: Yet to be investigated.
Inhibitor Switch: Yet to be investigated.
Wiring Loom: Yet to be investigated.
ECU/BCU: Yet to be investigated.
I hope all this doesn't mean that somewhere sometime the truck is going to stop and let me down?
I am so impressed with its ride and smoothness on the road.
Please can someone tell me I made a good choice!
