Yeah but see how close they were to the rocks. Asians again - not a racist thing but the number of Asians I have had to tow in or chip when rock fishing is disproportionate to the number of fisherman out there.

I had to throw a rope to one Asian guy who was fishing on slippery weed covered rocks that had waves running over it. Lucky the rope on my keeper net was long enough to reach him or he would have been another statistic. I was contemplating having going in after him if the rope did not reach him but thought better of it. He even had his kids down there with him.

These there was the time I had to two a ski boat in at dawn near Bare Island - that is where the latest fatality occured. These jokers ran out of fuel after water skiing over the bombora????

They then got the ****s because I left them on the beach at Brighton and would not tow them back up the Georges River to their trailer.

2-2.5m swell in a tinny and at 7pm. It's like trying that one last hill when its late before driving out of the bush - thats the one that somebody always breaks on.
Search for missing fisherman Tim Nguyen scaled back after boat capsized in Botany Bay (http://www.smh.com.au/nsw/search-for-missing-fisherman-tim-nguyen-scaled-back-after-boat-capsized-in-botany-bay-20160401-gnwitu.html)

I know what you both mean. I see them all the time, even in the middle of the night with no more light than a torch held between the teeth. In the last days of Commercial fishing in Botany Bay, most if not all of the Prawn Trawlers were operated my Vietnamese. I'm not being racist either, but the fact is you would hardly ever, in fact I never saw one with the correct lights displayed. One of them had it's nets picked up by a work boat and was overturned, with fatal consequences.
That is why I say be careful out there. One of these people with little or no regard for personal safety or the safety of others could just as easily drag you into their situation. I know because I've had so many near misses.
I was working that night and while the search was on we were waiting for a call to help, which thankfully didn't come. The Police radioed that they were calling off their search at 2230, and we spent the rest of the night hoping that we weren't going to find a corpse whist on the job.
