Steering Issue

Hay guys

the issue is not severe but more annoying then anything, its just that my steering hooks left when driving quite noticeably so much i have to make an effort to counter it with the steering wheel.

I have taken it into gets its routine services and have mentioned it several times and they seem to remedy it short term, but the last time i went in and quiestioned they said "most" defenders tend to favour one way or the other...

I'm no mechanic so i was wondering if there is any truth behind that, does any one else suffer similar issues and must enjoy the ride or is this able to be fixed long term???

BTW no 4WD between services

My steering drifts left for sure. As soon as my hands are off the wheel it will head that way - but it's not something I notice while in control - there's no pull or tug that's noticeable.

It sounds like you need a wheel alignment check/adjustment. Assuming nothing is worn.

just been through that replaced the front shock bushes with superpro
also the shock positioning seats. while I was at it I changed the shock turrets to the hd terrafirma ones standard size with hd turret rings.
also check your steering damper, and steering arm ball joint.

Most pull to the left slightly.
Camber of the road and no camber adjustment being the culprit.
If it is more noticeable whilst accelerating then that is rear steer caused by worn trailing arm bushes.
Somewhere on here is the correct settings for toe, which are different to the factory specs.

jboot51 thanks for the reply, well not so much accelerating but really noticeable travelling 100 on the Mway i change lanes with out turning some days...

you made sense until you mentioned your toe? just joking what does "toe" refer to in regards to wheels and steering??

There might be some truth to that statement. Superpro make 'offset' bushes to correct the drift to the left.

My County has always drifted left a little so I fitted the 1 degree bushes and it was a definite improvement, it now tracks pretty straight with no drift either way on a flat surface, I'm quite happy with the result.
For whatever reason, wheel alignment doesn't seem to be the problem from my experience.
I doubt Superpro would bother to produce these if there was not a 'known' issue.

I'm against most aftermarket suppliers regarding LR's as most wouldn't have a clue,Superpro aren't one of them.If they make a bush to suit a definitive application I would trust their judgement on it. Pat

okay that seems to make sense to me but i wonder why they created the issue in the first place to favour left??? or is it one of land rovers questions that'll never be honestly answer
