Do you need to charge 2 iPads at once? I know you can get a twin port unit that has a 2.1 amp port and a 1 amp port but never seen a twin 2.1 amp unit - I wouldn't mind one myself if you find one.

In our vehicle 2 iPads being on charge is common. I've got this stuck to the rear of the center console. 2 x 2.4A + 3 x 1A outputs.
No arguments since I got it.

Thanks gents. It's odd that 2 X 2.1 or greater amps cannot be had in the same socket. I might use the little 2 socket jobbie from Ali and recess it into the console somewhere and put one in the back.

I just use a double USB ciggie plug. Gives me 2 x 2.4amp usb points. Will charge both an iphone and iPad with bothing running GPS apps and recording track.
Pretty sure its this one. And the lightning lead works fine.

Thanks mate. Yes use a Narva double plug and 2 x 2usb outlet inserts but rough corregations can upset the apple cart. Usb hard wired sockets would be neater and would not prone to stop charging on rough roads.

2.4 amp per port

Which has the fast charge with my s7 and it does charge at warp speed. It sits nicely in the D2 and rests on the console. Probably still rattle out on corrugated roads but at least the red strip will go out and I should notice it. I didn't look into it much but there seems to be more to taking advantage of the s7 fast charge circuits than just amps. It's a heavy unit with alloy frame.

This is the one I'm going to use in the Defender: CAR Cigarette Lighter CUP Holder Power Adapter Spliter USB Charger Socket 2 1A | eBay (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/162074970557)
but with the cigarette plug swapped for an Anderson plug, as I now have a remote Anderson plug mounted beside the pax seat, so I can run my compressor, fridge, UHF, or anything else I can attach an Anderson plug to.

Your're chasing a 100% reversible install if I recall correctly!
It's too large for my liking. I prefer the panel mount stuff for its "discreet" size.
With technology, I can't imagine why its so damn big, or maybe it's just so it fills the cup holder :p

That is correct Michael, I am going for the 100% reversible. It will actually live in the back behind the front Pax seat mounted in an as yet to be made false floor. I'm also looking at a Drifta Car Back kitchen to live under this false floor which will also be the outside kitchen for our soon to arrive caravan!
Agree with you on the panel mount stuff if it's a permanent install.

Carling Technologies make a dual 3.15A charger in their common 'rocker switch' footprint.
IP64 too!

yeeeeees,,,
but where does it fit?
the wider switches around the binnacle would be about the same size but the usb cord would be directly behind your knuckles,
the switch block left of the ashtray would be ideal but the switches are much smaller,,, :(

Maybe some of the defender drivers amongst us will sacrifice a few amps for the IP64 rating. Because you may want to charge you phone inside the car while its raining.

I just wish I could find a single wire in USB. Dosent need to be high power.
As I have already mounted 3 switches above the mirror. But if I could just tuck a USB in that cavity. So can feed a short USB to power a dash cam.
